Went there at 5:00 on a Friday. It wasn't busy, yet we had 3 different wait staff and no one waited around long enough to see if I wanted another beer. Wings were good, but servic...

Love the lunch specials 4/10/2011

I go here at least once a month for lunch and even have their lunch card. The food is great and the service always excellent. I recommend the burgers and sandwiches, but not the salads. Their fries are my favorite, so much better than fast food fries! As far as atmosphere, there are lots of TVs and the restaurant can be a little loud. more

short pours 11/19/2010

Food is always good and great service. My only problem is that every time you get a draft beer it's short pour. If you pay for a pint you should get a pint. This has to be done on purpose or the bartenders are very sloppy. If you go there stick to bottles because the pints are at least one to two inches from the top. more

Great Beer 10/20/2010

Great beer, good food and great wait staff. One of my favorite places to go for a beer with friends. more

Thumbs Down 2/25/2009

The staff do not seem very happy to be woking. In this economy you'd think anyone would be thrilled to have a job. I would definitly not recommend the Turkey Burger. There seems to be no seasoning at all just a plain burger. If you are looking for a really great Turkey Burger, try Red Robin! more

I cannot believe the way we were treated by the manager Chris 1/12/2009

Three of my girlfriends went to this restaurant to watch the football game. The waitress separated our checks incorrectly. She charged us for drinks that were paid for at the bar. She admitted to her error but refused to correct the problem. She charged our credit card even after we told her the problem. We asked for the manager. The manager was horrible. He immediately advised all of us (even the other three women who were not in the dispute) to leave not even trying to correct the problem. The waitres stood there and would not admit to her error. The unfortunate thing is that I feel that if we were not African American, we would not have been treated that way. Not to mention that the waitress took 20 minutes to bring us or beverages and twice our food was sent to a different table. It was not like we did not want to pay for our food and drinks- we just wanted the check corrected. I hate to say it but I will never visit the Carolina Ale House again. What happened to good customer service? more

bad meal 1/9/2009

wish i not go.the manager saw rude employees not do anything.one of the hostesses stood in front of me .almost bumped into not say anything.one other waitress took me to the table.she rude.bobby my waiter rude.he not want to write down order.i had to ask him another time to do it.twice he stoppedtaking down my order.i had to remind him.he talk back rude.he stood behined me.talked in my right ear. then he stood behined me yelled in my left ear. his answers were vague not specify.he told me to go find him if i needed anything.he not busy at all.i had to go ask him to go to kitchen to see if had a certain bread i wanted on sandwich. he swear when he not like the answer i told him.he stood far away from me. when he talked to me. he talked fast sometimes hard to understand him. waitresses were rude to female customers i noticed. only nice to male customers. more

bad experience 4/27/2008

Just last night i went to the ale house with my man it was kind of late everything was fine until about an hour later we were home thank god for that my man started to have severe throwing up and crapping and i dont mean kinda bad it was so bad the throwing uo and the crapping happened at the same time every 10 to 15 minutes for 10 hours i was so upset at ale house so i made it a point to call and complain and get my money back it was more about the moral than the money but i felt like we didnt deserve to pay to get sick the manager travis at the creekside location in raleigh nc told me i would have to wait til monday to call their corporation. I just wanted my money back and now i have to go through hoops because they dont want to give me my 30 dollars back i didnt even call the health inspection on them yet i was trying to handle this in a appropriate manner because i have worked in the restaurant business i know this sort of thing happens but now they are making it worse than it has to be! I recommend not to eat at the ale house because it seems like they do not care for their customers and their well being! If you ever are in a situation like that all you want to hear is ""Im sorry let us refund your money back"" I am now wondering why they are being so defensive about their restaurant like it could never happen to them and that i must be lying. I tell you one thing i wish i was because to see someone you love feel so horrible on their only day off is rough! more

fun sports bar, but where's fatch?!?!?!? 2/2/2008

This is a great place to watch the game, whatever game it may be. The food is pretty good, but what makes it is the great atmosphere... fun sports bar atmosphere. My only complaint (besides no fatch behind the bar) is you can't smoke cigars there anymore. Oh well. more

A great sports bar but with a few glitches (Wake Forest Ale House) 11/19/2007

First I want to say the thing I like bets about the CAH is that it is uniquely Carolinian, not a nationwide box restaurant. That adds a local flavor to the establishment which is quite nice. It is a curious mix of family restaurant and boisterous sports bar at once, yet somehow it works. The atmosphere is almost always loud and upbeat which is probably what it was designed to be, almost something like a roadhouse or octoberfest. The enclosed patio area is also a really nice touch. As for sports viewing you really can't beat it; TVs everywhere with any game you want. The staff is always friendly, a couple of glitches here and there with missed orders, but it was forgiveable. Barstaff is some of the best I have ever seen. But I do have a few issues with it. First is the layout. When the place is crowded it can be really tricky to navigate the bar area with it's clutter of tables and tight passes. They put the pool tables right by the bathroom entrances which makes it hard to play in peace with a constant stream of people moving around you. The area also attracts a lot of kids. Not that I have anything against kids, but they are a constant distraction when you are trying to play. It would be nice to say ""no kids on the pool tables after 9pm"" or something like that. It really does get that irritating. The second issue is the food just ain't that great. It's ok, but not worth what you pay for it. The pizza is especially horrifying. And finally beware the roving managers watching you. They do things like come right up to you and give you a high five as a sobriety test, and you won't know it's a manager sizing you up. Next thing you know you're cut off, and whether or not you deserved to be, that's just a sneaky and weird way of doing it. Makes you feel uncomfortable. Otherwise I like the Ale House very much. It's fun, reasonably priced, and a great atmosphere. Recommend. Pros: Fun atmosphere, nice big feel to it, great staff, beer specials, terrific sports bar Cons: so-so food, no control of children, occasional service fumbles more

This is for the Carolina Ale House in Wake Forst 10/8/2007

We waited 15 minutes for seating - not bad. But people kept coming in and asking to be seated because ""there was an empty booth over there, or could they sit at the bar, or there was a table empty, etc."" There were two young girls at the reception stand - neither looked to even be in their 20s, and they were totally intimated by the pushy people. I did not see one adult manager all night, and they need one. Pros: Lots of parking, good spinach dip Cons: Just about everything else - poor service, mediocre food, poor drinks more

Good wings, bad service 4/13/2007

Went there at 5:00 on a Friday. It wasn't busy, yet we had 3 different wait staff and no one waited around long enough to see if I wanted another beer. Wings were good, but service is lacking. Pros: good wings, drink speicals, beer selection Cons: bad service more

Defintely a little on the prejudice side 11/30/2006

Carolina Ale House get's a lot of support from minorities. Yet they treat them like second class citizens and offer second class service to minorities. Yes, seating is very promt if your a white male, but for minorities, they may get a prompt seat in the back corner booth. This is not 1960. The Ale House needs to let go of it's good ol' boy image and start recognizing who helps to pay their bills. Pros: If there's no where else to go ... Cons: If there's no where else to go ... more

Waitstaff too busy! 9/22/2006

Everytime I go there the waitress is always too bust to get to my table. One time I had to wait to get my refill, and it was a beer I was waiting for! The food was O.K. but it is something you can get almost anywhere. Another gripe is the conditions of the bathrooms, yuk. I would rather stay home to watch the game, then I would not run out of beer! Pros: It was cheap food. Cons: It felt unsanitary. more

The Ale House Rocks! 11/20/2002

hey there. i just want to tell everyone about the great atmosphere of the ale house. despite the smell of smoke (well it is a bar) and the mass overcrowdment the ale house is the best hang out spot in town, with so many tvs that you cant miss a single sporting event on earth this makes for the ultimate fan spot - especially if your one of the local colleges fans and of course Carolina Hurricanes FAN! the service is fast and great and is made up of great people that celebrate with you (break plates on the floor of the bar as your team scores) if your bored and need something to do, head on over to the Carolina Ale House. youl always find a friend and great entertainment Pros: great service, many tvs with sports, convinient location Cons: crowded, smells like smoke more

love that bar 9/22/2002

great place for family and freinds, good wait staff and the girls there are always hot. Good drink specials and a big beer selection Pros: parking, food, service Cons: smokey more

Great Service! 8/29/2002

The Carolina Ale House in Raleigh is the best. The service is great and so is the food. It is a fun place to have a meal, hang out, shoot pool, sing karake, and especially to watch the game. There is no where else to be to see the Hurricanes play! Pros: Great Food, Great Service, best sports selection more

Consistent 8/28/2002

Consistently great service, good bar food, and great beer selection. Hit it for happy hour and load up on wings! Pros: service, food, beer more

place for the grownups 8/8/2002

my happy-hour crew just switch over to going to the carolina ale house recently. we had been going to another local pub for about 2 years straight (...working on getting plates on the wall!) but now that we have drank ourselves silly, we are ready to slow down the pace. the ale house has a lovely patio, that is excellent for wining & dining outside. the atmosphere is less smokey than traditional bars and the food is great. Pros: atmosphere, outside dining, food Cons: little pricey more
