You don't need to go to the Zoo to catch a glimpse of wildlife if you live in and around Watauga. You just need to head over to Capp Smith Park. Bring an old loaf of bread down to the creek bed and the ducks will be eating right out of your hand like it's candy. In addition, the park also has a hiking and biking trail, a playground for the kids, and a baseball field.
Not to mention, the park's close proximity to the police station makes it a park you can feel comfortable bringing your kids to.
