Capitol Clothing

What happened to all the clothes. The place is BARE!!!! I have shopped in many designer boutiques in the US and abroad and exceptional service by the staff is what one would expect. This was not the case at Capitol, with the lack of inventory and unprofessional service I will not be returning. I will shop in places where my business is appreciated. more

I've never actually shopped in this boutique, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it featured in a supplement to Marie Claire's September's issue called 'The New Way to Shop.' Laura Vinroot Poole is featured as a 'smart retailer' and I'm not sure if the items shown are in her store, but even if they aren't, items she does have are sure to be just as awesome! I can't wait to visit her store the next time I make the trek from Raleigh to Charlotte! Kudos for putting NC on the map! Pros: Awesome sense of fashion more

I will preface my review by letting you know I am by no means a typical Capitol customer, but I was still treated like one! Capitol is a gorgeous shop! I did not feel out of place even when I went in in my gym clothes and the salesgirl Morgan was very engaging and friendly! For the reviewers that felt that some of the people at Capitol may have not been friendly, it is important to remember that people's atittudes towards you are normally a direct reflection of how you are being percieved. (i.e. if you go in thinking that people will be snotty, you may appear that you are). I do understand that it still does happen and people pre-judge, but in my personal experience, Capitol is excellent! In my opinion I think Neiman Marcus is one of the worst places for service, as many of the salespeople feel they are much too good for the less affluent customers, like myself. Overall, Capitol is wonderful, has great customers service and a gorgeous array of designer clothing! Not to be missed! Where do I even begin. I am actually from Washington, DC and have been visiting Charlotte for the past year or so for business. And boy, did I think i had seen it all. Last night I passed by the most spectacular window display I have EVER seen! A young girl was sitting crouch down in the window hammering about a million nails into the wall where the mannequins are displayed. She was actually weaving string and creating the logos of the designers that Capitol is so famous for carrying. I was speechless. Not only does that store have phenomenal customer service and cutting edge trends--but they are really embracing a new avenue in artistic design. The time and attention that this store puts into everything that they do is remarkable. Capitol is paving the way for a new caliber of retail--everyone should check it out! more

This is the best store in Charlotte. The staff is extreamly nice and helpful. I had plently of follow-up when i was waiting for a certain size dress to come it. Cold water was provided as we shopped. The variety of designer clothes were amazing. I have read many articles in national magazines and i know why the store and its owner get the media attention that they do. If your looking for great personal service with a plethera of great clothes to choose from, go to Capitol. You won't be disappointed, i promise. this store is the best store in all of charlotte. it has great staff, who offer water, who are waiting on you hand and foot and are so helpful. they have the best designers in all of charlotte, i think. and also, just down the road is the poole shop...this store is in the best place ever. if anyone says anything bad about this store they have to be lying. obviously they have been to the wrong store. this store is the best. i buy all of my clothes from here, and the staff know my name and are so nice to me and anyone else that comes into the store. Capitol has the best selection of designer clothes in the South. Wonderful staff who is always willing to help you with your EVERY need. This cannot be the same store as in the last two reviews. My friend and I received a thank you card just for coming in and a cold supply of water was available to us. Capitol is a must see on my list!! they have the RUDEST staff i have ever experienced!!! they are a bunch of teenage snots that couldnt buy anything in there! if you want horrible treatment .....go on in more

""You are not doing me a favor"" is what I wanted to scream after leaving the Capitol clothing store in Phillips Place! The owner is not inviting, engaging or friendly.The staff is too busy folding clothes, talking on the phone and whispering to each other behind the cash wrap. The store's decor is mediocre...not the backdrop that I expected for Lanvin, Balenciaga and Lela Rose. Bring your own water when trying on clothes because they won't offer it and don't look for a thank you note after spending thousands of dollars...they have enough business and don't need yours! I felt stressed, ashamed and embarrassed after my girlfriend and I spent hours and several thousands of dollars in this store. I can't go back, even though they have an impressive selection of designer goods. The rumors of poor customer service is so,so true! after all I had seen Capitol mentioned in national magazines, how depresssing to see the actual shop. help was busy talking to boyfriends on the phone, atmosphere was dismal. when I had a handful of items to try on, nobody seemed to care. if things are this pricey, I will happily take my business elsewhere. Without a doubt, Capitol is the best clothing store in NC. [I drove from Raleigh for a couple years just to visit!] First, they carry an amazing assortment of brands: Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Narciso Rodriguez, DVF, and the list goes on... There are items for every lifestyle and occasion - casual, city-chic, professional, and evening. Also, the service is incredible - all of the salespeople are super helpful and friendly (something that you do not often find). I now live in NYC, but still plan on returning to this Queen City gem! more
