My best friend took me here because she really liked it. We sat outside. I had the beet salad and mushroom soup. The beets were supposed to be ""thyme roasted"" beets and special greens. It looked as if they just took some canned beets and crinkle cut them, plopped them on a bed of iceberg, and sprinkled sunflowers. Taste was mediocre. The lavash was stale. Good soup and yummy desserts.
Then, it began to lightly rain. The server came out and put up an umbrella for the table next to us, passed us by, then never came back. ""Well, that was weird"" we thought. So my friend went inside to ask her for an umbrella and she said ""it will be a minute"".
Oh sure! We'll just get rained on, thank you.
A minute passes and a man comes out with an umbrella and puts it up on the EMPTY table next to us.
Wait, there's more. Here's the kicker: He goes in, comes back out with another umbrella, approaches our table, smiles at me and says ""excuse me"", and puts the umbrella up at ANOTHER EMPTY table behind us!! Then walked away and never came back.
Meanwhile, those previously emptied tables were immediately occupied. Our server comes out 5 minutes later and informs us that they gave out their last umbrella. ""sorry"" doesn't really cut it at this point.
No common sense. Apparently they thought we'd enjoy eating in the rain. We could sprout daisies from our heads and be a part of the scenery or decor.
My friend was embarrassed for recommending me to Canvas.
I can't say much for the menu as I only tried 3 items. It looks interesting and I would have liked to try some other items. It's a shame. I won't be coming back.
Canvas will forever be, the butt of my jokes for bad restaurant service. I will definitely share this experience with everyone that I know.
