It´s time to come to Camp and rent a boat and motor for the day or our new pontoon, which seats 12, to get out on the lake. Canoes and kayaks are also available.
Camp Van Vac´s 90-year-old sauna tradition moved recently to its new. scenic spot overlooking bumtside, making it so easy to ´´Go jump in the lake!´´ The sauna is in its own cabin now, and it´s fired up and ready for you Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights during July and August. Kids and adults are welcome from 7-9 pm, and adults get the place to themselves from 9-11 pm. In May, June and September, the sauna is hoy on Saturday and one other night during the week.
-Camp´s WiFi capability has its own log cabin just across the road from the lodge. Get the password from Nancy, sit on the bench to check your e-mail on your laptop, or use the desk and outlets inside. But don´t tarry. Wouldn´t you rather be canoeing.
In Ely, you can learn about wolves while watching a live pack. Browse through the outfitters, nibble a luscious caramel roll, and discover shops known for fine crafts and north country art. A day´s adventure nearby might include a scenic flight in a pontoon plane, a hike to an abandoned wolf den, golf, tennis, or an underground iron minc tour.. Take your family away to a log cabin by the lake at the edge of the wilderness. Or maybe to a little cottage made of fieldstone with a perfect view of the Minnesota sunset. Camp Van Vac has 25 rustic cabins on the shore of Burntside Lake in the Superior National Forest at the doorstep of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
