This year my 10 year old daughter decided that she wanted to try going to an overnight camp. She went for the 4 week session & got home yesterday. She had a fabulous time! I was concerned because she doesn't make friends easily, but she told me she made so many new friends & did lots of activities like basketball, jewelry-making, and mask making.
They have Shabbat Services on Friday evenings and the kids get all dressed up & sing songs & really have a blast.
We were also able to see pictures of her on a website called bunk1, which posts candid pictures of the kids doing their activities, posing with their bunks, & putting on plays. You can also email them through bunk1 or send them regular letters from home or packages only from a couple of preferred merchants. They are extremely strict about packages from home-they don't like them because in the past, parents have sent candy & since they have a strict kosher policy. If you are going to send a package there just call them to let them know & they will ask what you are sending.
Overall this has been a great experience for my daughter & I will not hesitate to send her next summer for the full 8 week program, which she has asked to go to.
