Cameron Court is the worst place to live inside the beltline, if not all of Raleigh. Do not be fooled by the shady leasing manager or office assistant, touting the courtyard, hardwood floors, and big beautiful windows.
The courtyard was a nice place WAS. It can no longer be enjoyed because of a few residents who are rude and let their dogs run wild, jumping on you, having dog orgies in the courtyard, digging up what grass is left, and pooping all over the place while their owners on the other side of the grounds could care less. This beautiful courtyard is also a great place for ""young professionals"" to have loud late night parties. Stop by on a Sunday morning, the courtyard is littered with trash, beer bottles, and cans.
The big beautiful windows are energy inefficient. You can expect your heat or air conditioning to run non-stop and your power bill to be astronomical. The heat pumps are 30 years old, and are broke more often they run. The maintenance people are incapable of fixing them properly. The beautiful windows also do not block out the noise from the loud parties at 3 or 4am.
If you do live here, I suggest living on a top floor, unless you want to hear EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING your upstair neighbor is doing. My neighbor was as friendly as ever but I had a hard time looking at him because he was so often having a ""good time."" Also, he sounded like a clydesdale upstairs. The bad thing about living on the top floor though is that these ceiling leak, and leak bad. I don't mean just drips, I mean entire pieces of the ceiling falling in.
Maintenance here is slow to act, and substandard. They are overwhelmed by their jobs. Plumbing problems are a significant issue here.
Likely because of the economy, the leasing manager has been desperate to fill the exodus of residents that occurred over the last year. Anybody and Everybody has been allowed to move in. Sadly, it has turned into crack town. Methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana arrests, and there was an incident where drug traffickers came to collect with guns in the courtyard.
