California Supermarket specializes in mostly Asian foods. The store seems cleaner and better organized under new management. Although, the meat and seafood department is smaller than that of an average grocery, the items for sale are fresher because the market sticks to what is available NOW, such as monk fish. The butcher is present and approachable. The offerings in the bakery have a "just baked" smell. (The fish does not smell--which is as it should be.) The store also carries a wide variety of sauces and oils, noodles, rice and tofu products.
The store carries basic American processed foods, but they're pricey--a Duncan Hines cake mix is $2.99, an average size box of Trix cereal $4.99. Save your money (and your health) and stick to Asian foods. Checkout is quick.
