California Dreaming Restaurant 11/16/2006

California Dreaming Restaurant is a great restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina. It is located at 1 Ashley Point Drive. I have been impressed by this place ever since I discovered it moons ago. You may go to their website and learn more: http://www.newyorkprime.com/califdreaming/cd-charleston/cdcharles-intro.html . If you don't make reservations or at least phone ahead, you'll be looking at at least an hour wait, probably much more. The restaurant is always busy and sometimes the wait staff lacks a lot to be desired. The food is ok, but the view of the water makes up for anything that you find wrong. The ribs (all kinds) and burgers are great, though. I always get the California Dreaming Salad or the Filet Mignon or the Fried Shrimp Platter. l also love the Fried Flounder or the Oven Roasted Salmon. But l have found nothing l didn't like at this place. You won't either. more

Lovin' me some California Dreaming... 9/8/2006

Loved it, it's just that the wait was entirely too long..everything else was great though. Service was pretty good. The waitresses were very nice. Very fine dining, love the bar drinks! Being by the water is more than just romantic, esp. w/a special someone. ~Kimmie more

Honey butter croissants are a must! 9/1/2006

The food is good, the salads are huge, and the honey butter croissants are yummy. The best thing I have to say about California Dreaming is the spectacular view they have. It over looks the Charleston Harbor and the prices aren't too bad either. The worst thing about this restaurant is to expect a long-long wait. more

The restaurant is in a wonderful spot and right on the river. The entire backside is like a giant window overlooking the harbor. Thats the best thing about the restaurant, the view. This is my least favorite place to eat. The food is not that good and the service is horrible. I only saw my waiter 3 times, when he took my order, brought my food, and brought the check. I suppose it has to do with the fact that restaurant is always busy and very crowded. Its important to make a reservation but you will end up waiting an hour or longer to be seated. I definitely agree that there are much better places to eat in Charleston for the price. more

Great View! 4/17/2006

I have to say that the view here is amazing and that is really what sets this restaurant apart as the food is nice, but nothing special. I have to say that I was very impressed with the salads and the selection of dressings available was great. The service was a bit on the slower side, but I was in no hurry and have come to expect that there. The prices are reasonable, but I think the view more than makes up for the food. more

California Dreaming 4/16/2006

We took our family and friends here when they came to visit. Although the food isn't very impressive or varied, the view is amazing (of the river) and the service is superb. The prices are fairly reasonable but certainly not worth the quality of the food that you receive. I would recommend California Dreaming for tourists and out-of-town guests but there are many other and better places to eat in Charleston. more

Fun place to eat, food ok 4/16/2006

California Dreaming is a really fun restaurant with a great view of the harbor. You can see sailboats, ships, etc. coming in and out by the bridges. I've taken my nephews & out of town family & they always got a kick out of watching the ships. The menu is good and varied but it is on the pricey side for what you get. The food is ok. The view, however, is outstanding and worth going to at least once just to see the view. more
