Cafe Michael

This restarant is in an intimate setting where the owners make a point to come and speak with you about the menu, your experience, etc. We went there for the first time on Friday night & felt like we were long-time patrons because of the attention we received from the owners. I am not sure if they have a piano-player/singer there every weekend, but they had one when we went & she sang all Christmas Music (anything from Kenny Logins to A Charlie Brown Christmas)! The portions were extremely large & the Shrimp Michel was great! Around 8:00, the staff dimmed the lights & the atmosphere really became more intimate, so I would recommend going here later in the evening if you are on a date (otherwise, the atmosphere just does not have the same appeal)... My husband and I went to Cafe Michel on the Smyrna Square Friday night for dinner. We love when they send out their buy one entree, get one free coupons. We have been here about a dozen times and have always enjoyed our meal. My favorite dish is the Veggie Michel, pasta in a homemade white wine cream sauce. The sauce is extremely rich and so delicious. I can never finish the large portion. I also like the Salade de Mandarine (Manderin Orange) salad with chicken added. I do not care for yogurt based dressings, so I substitute the raspberry vinagrette for it. My husband likes the Veggie Michel with chicken added, and he has enjoyed several other entrees. Breakfast is quite good as well. Service is quick and friendly. The crowd is mostly locals with a mix of couples, singles, and families. The restaurant often has quite a few people in it but never feels crowded. On the weekends, there is live music by a local keyboardist/vocalist in the evenings. Cafe Michel is one of our favorite local restaurants when we want a good but not fancy meal.
