Had the review been only about the food, I would have given it 4-5 stars...but the service sucks. I moved out here from CA, and could not find a decent mexican place...especiall...

Fresh and Delicious 10/24/2006

Don't go to this restaurant expecting your standard Mexican menu, where you pick from 45 combo meals, all with a dousing of warmed-over rice and beans. Everything at Cafe Capistrano is a cut above, from the muy delicioso fresh (not canned) salsa served with perfectly-seasoned chips, to the fresh and flavorful dinner entrees. The folks at this restaurant aren't content to toss together some cheese and meat and call it dinner - they actually season their food and work to make the flavors meld together perfectly. As for atmosphere... you also won't find any sombreros hanging on the wall or a tired mariachi band soundtrack playing in the background - this restaurant is warm, comforting, and sophisticated. Wonderful fresh Mexican fare! 10/24/2006

Wow. We went to Cafe Capistrano last night for the first time and were so impressed! We all got different menu items ... and none of us were disappointed! It was so yummy ... and a TON of food for the price we paid. And definitely try the queso dip -- it was outstanding! We will definitely eat here again soon! Pros: Fabulous food! more

Incredible food, delicious and gorgeous presentation! Lots of mexican seafood items!! Beautiful restaurant...we were so very pleasantly surprised by the upscale quality of food and the beautiful environment of this Cafe. It tastes and feels like California, truly. Thank goodness for Cafe Capsitrano..we'll be back and we're be bringing friends..won't be long before we'll be needing reservations here. Don't forget to try their desserts, we had the most amazing Flan! Pros: Incredible food. Beautiful restaurant with a water fountain inside! more
