This place has the most amazing desserts! I love the hazelnut latte as well! It's a great place to hang out in the evening or have lunch. Pros: desserts, coffee

Worst

I came and got some food for my and my boys while they were at home visiting. The staff were friendly and they got my food fast.

I had to laugh at the person who thought it rude to expect her to keep her shrieking child in hand. more

mnshopgirl: Although I agree that the manner in which the owner addressed the situation was rude, it is simply ridiculous to expect other patrons within a communal space to tolerate a screaming child. more

My experience there was great! Very tasty food and great cafe to relax and social. more

Family Friendly? I don't think so! 8/2/2011

Cafe Latte used to be a favorite spot of mine for a sandwich and cup of soup in St. Paul. Not anymore! Today owner, Peter Quinn, all but asked our group to leave because our children were shrieking. While shrieking is admittedly obnoxious, I have quickly learned that getting a one-year old to stop said shrieking is a nearly impossible task. I was a bit flabbergasted that someone would actually ask me to leave a restaurant because of it. Assuming this person didn't have children, I was more shocked to learn that he does, in fact, have at least a son. Of course his son, now fully grown, no longer shrieks and works behind the Cafe Latte counter. I was most shocked to learn that this person was the owner! The owner, after following me into his neighboring store, Quince, suggested that, in the future, I get up and leave before being prompted to do so. The bottom line: this is not a family friendly restaurant and I will not be returning. Now or when my children are older. The next time I want to pay $15 for a sandwich, soup, and soda, I will take my business elsewhere. more

good food, too small desserts 2/10/2011

It's not a positive experience for me anymore. The owner insists the dessert pieces get cut smaller and smaller. I would rather have a bigger piece and raise the price. Which they did, but the dessert piece was still small. Also noticed when I bought a sandwich there last night, that the spread was less than usual. That was discouraging too. Even though the food is very very good, I don't need to go there and have this kind of frustration. They lost me as a frequent customer a year back, and now even an occasional customer. I will become once in a blue moon customer now. more

Dessert Heaven with good food 10/23/2010

Like users before me have said, Great Desserts! The sheer amount of options is amazing- cheesecakes, tortes, cakes, tarts, etc. I also enjoy their food too- I usually get a salad and soup. There's always vegetarian options available in every area. It does get really really busy, especially on weekends though. You can see the cake decorators at work through the glass wall, which is kinda cool. It can be kinda confusing for beginners on ""how it works"", but after that, it's a great place to go. more

Great lattes and fabulous desserts! 1/23/2009

Cakes! 6/13/2008

I can't tell you what the dinner/lunch is like, because everytime I come here, it is all about the cake. The creamy, decadent tres leche cake is my favorite, but the turtle chocolate cake is a close second. I like to come here with a group, where we each order something different, and than we share it. I haven't met a dessert here I didn't like. My only complaint is the hours at the gym I have to spend burning those extra calories, but it is totally worth it. Pros: Cake Cons: Calories more

Melt in your mouth Vanilla Cheesecake! 8/13/2007

All of the desserts here are delicious but the one that I must have everytime I'm in the neighborhood is the Vanilla Cheescake, its rich and creamy and topped with a sweet glazed jumbo strawberry! I've tried almost all assortments of pizzas, pastas, soups and lattes, its all ""okay"", desserts are what keeps me coming back and prices are very affordable The only thing I hope they can improve on is the checkout, I wouldn't exactly consider Caffe Latte a first time user-friendly place. After ordering your dessert on the pasta bar side, you have to wait for the people in front of you to go down that long pasta salad/soup bar (and most of them chit chat and think forever long about if they want something from the bar or not). Many friends that have gone in and said that the place is confusing because you don't know where to start with placing your order. (this is also a seat yourself place) Also, don't think about grabbing dessert and cutting the line to get straight to the register because the staff will literally bite your head off! I've learned that to grab a quick dessert, the other side of Cafe Latte (where the pizzas are made) is a much better option and you get out faster! Ps. There is always seating upstairs! Its intimidating at first because you walk in seeing crowds of people but I've never had trouble grabbing a table up top! more

Busy at lunch... but with good reason! 6/7/2007

I went here with a friend for lunch. Neither of us had been here before, so it took awhile to figure out ""how things work"" (There is no menu board at the start of the line). The food is served cafeteria style, and you can choose from salads, pastas, sandwiches, and soups. We each had a sandwich, and we split a pasta salad. The food was excellent and the value for the money decent. Our only complaint was having trouble finding somewhere to sit. All the tables were full! We did find a spot, but this is NOT somewhere you go to be ""alone""! :) Pros: Great food, fun atmosphere Cons: Crowded at lunch more

Fantastic Bakery 5/23/2007

We have bought a few cakes from Cafe Latte and eaten there a few times--everytime we have had excellent service and the food is great! Their cake menu makes it really hard to decide on just one thing---everything looks wonderful (and it tastes as good as it looks!). We will definitely go again (and again...) Pros: cakes, pies, tartes more

Always good. 4/23/2007

There's never been a time where I went to Cafe Latte and was ever let down by the service or food. Good stuff. Pros: Good food Cons: Line can get long more

Yummy Desserts 2/22/2007

My girlfriends and I enjoy going to Cafe Latte. It's a great place to hang out with friends and talk. We love the soups, salads, desserts, and the steamers. Pros: everything on the menu Cons: parking more
