I love going to Byu-ti because it is more than just a hair cut, it's an experience. There is never a long wait, and their stylists are very good at looking at your face and hair type and knowing what style will work for you. Both my sister and I go here and love it. Give it a try. I love the atmosphere at Byu-ti, it's clean and refreshing! The staff is friendly yet professional; you get some uptown pampering without the snobby ""pretty woman""-type customer service. \r \r I can always get an appt on short notice if I have a hair emergency, and I always get an appt reminder call and email, which is perfect because I am very forgetful. \r \r Byu-ti always has a good promotion going on to help you save some cash, and they have tons of products available in-store, but aren't pushy if you don't care to purchase their supplies. \r \r 5 Stars for BYU-TI! more

** This salon PAYS customers to write good reviews ($25 off next service) so basically, all the 5 stars on here mean NOTHING. **\r \r I have easy to cut hair, and have never once been upset about a hair cut. I went to Byu-ti to see Angela, and received what is by far the absolute worst hair cut of my life. Even my husband asked what on earth had happened. When I went in, Angela and I talked about my hair, and I explained that I did not want any layering in the back, and wanted light layering in the front. I'm not sure if she just wasn't listening, or perhaps didn't care, but she proceeded to butcher my hair. I considered posting a picture so you can see that this is not a case of a dramatic response to a fine hair cut. The right side is significantly different from the left. And instead of cutting the inch one inch I asked for, she cut about three and a half. On the right side, there is a chunk of hair that starts in the front and goes back behind my ear that's all one length. It looks like Angela thought about cutting it one length, and then changed her mind and made the rest of the hair a completely different length.\r \r However, while the bad hair cut is upsetting enough, the owner's behavior really sealed the deal. The salon scheduled me for a re-do with Stacey. Stacey was nice, and agreed that it was a very bad hair cut. She said that Angela had clearly ""fu**ed up."" She explained that it can't be fixed without cutting the entire back of the hair to meet the front chunk, but she could at least soften it. I appreciated her input, but decided that I would have it cut at a better salon. Stacey was understanding and said she'd be happy to help me fix it if I changed my mind.\r \r Then the owner, Natasha, comes out. Before I had gone back this morning, I read through the Yelp reviews. And a previous review had said that ""Natasha was very unapologetic and told me my straight hair was very difficult to cut for a number of reasons."" And indeed, this is exactly what happened. Natasha gives me the most condescending look, and explains that it's actually a good hair cut and the problem is my hair, which she says is so very thick. It absolutely is not. She then proceeds to explain that the chunk is only because my hair problematically falls to one place. As she's talking, she keeps repeating that what she's saying is probably way over my head and I can't really understand. Um, thanks.\r \r I was so shocked that she's saying exactly what the previous Yelp review complained about. And I asked her--wait, so you're saying this is a good hair cut, even though Stacey just told me it's a bad hair cut and Angela had clearly ""fu**ed up."" She didn't like that and snapped at me that we weren't getting anywhere and I should just take my money and leave.\r \r Which is exactly what I did. Byu-Ti is a wonderful salon located close to Third Street Promenade and the ocean in Santa Monica. When you enter, you will see a modern, white decor that is Asian inspired. The staff consists of very friendly professional hairdressers who know exactly what they do! They listen to how I would like to have my hair cut and colored and I have never left the place disappointed. On top of the great service, the place is also reasonably priced. I passed by the salon a week after they opened because of their clean, slick and welcoming impression. Although I didn't schedule an appointment on my first visit, I was later invited to *try* their services by Natasha, the beautiful, amazing and experienced owner. That was over two years ago! To-date, NO ONE has touched my hair other than the Byu-ti team of expert stylist. Regardless of how long I go without a cut or color, my hair always looks amazing because of their treatments and products. My hair has done a 180 from the moment I was first treated and is now long, healthy and shiny! Even in the damp weather, my hair rarely frizzes and most always warrants kudos from strangers. If you want byu-ti-ful hair, visit byu-ti! I promise you wont be disappointed! more

I get my hair cut and brows done here and from the moment you walk in it's professional, warm, no drama, and you feel totally taken care of. My husband see's Stacie for his hair and I see Natasha, and then I go to Emily for brows. They give a killer hair treatment as well that let's me walk around for a week without washing. I went to Byu-ti nervous and hesitant to try a new salon but I had to go some where reasonably priced in LA and with class. This was it! Everyone was so nice and helpful and made sure I was not only satisfied but actually enjoying myself from start to finish! You must try a byu-ti blender, my hair feels like silk! I'm sending my mom and sister there for Holiday makeovers (hair, treatment AND MAKEUP)!! more

I love love this Salon. I am Indian and very particular about my hair. I was nervous the first time I went there, but left a new woman. That was 6 years ago. They are profession, great space, great people, and really know how to take care of a customer. I always come in with an idea of how I am feeling, and leave with a haircut that is perfect. The best part is, even when I style myself a few days after I leave, it still looks great! They have great products, especially the Hair Vitamins! I used to wait months until I came home when I living in NY to get my hair cut here. New Hair = New Woman! more

I was living in a hair rut three years ago. My hair was too long and I was uninspired. The rut disappeared after visiting Natasha Sunshine and team at Byu-ti studio in Santa Monica! My hair has never looked this good and been in better health now. My cut really rocks and she and the whole staff have excellent ideas on color, style and products. I have seen 3 stylists and each one took the time to really talk to me and get a good understanding of what I am hoping to get out of my hair cut as well as my hair color. Rea cut my hair and she was great. I told her I didn't know how to curl my hair so she said next time, she will teach me! I was in and out within an hour which is how I prefer it. Byu-ti offers great deals to their customers. I highly suggest signing up for their email newsletters. They are obnoxiously sent out every week. Just every once and awhile to alert you of the great deals in the salon! If you need a cut, this is the place to go! Pros: Fabulous people, great space, great deals Cons: none! more

I found Byu-ti online and am so glad I did! I make the trek from Hollywood to Santa Monica on a regular basis because this salon is the best. Reasonable prices, caring and knowledgable stylists, and beautiful atmosphere are just a few of the reasons I love this place. AND they give you coupons and incentives to save money! I have seen Laura and Whitney and both of them have been perfectly attentive to my needs, while advising me what would be the best for my (previously) badly damaged hair. I am so happy I found this place. Everyone that works there is so nice, there are fun discounts and deals if you refer friends which i did and they followed through on them.! I had Andi fix my hair after highlights from someone else that did not turn out right and she took me in last min and stayed late and even sent me home with deep conditioner samples to treat my hair - and they called to see how i liked it after - great customer service....I've now been going to Andi for almost 4 years and she's taken me through blond, and dark and whatever I feel like doing at the time! She listens very well to what you are looking for and is an expert at making it happen! And, she always make sure my hair stays soft and healthy. I've learned quite a few styling tips and she always helps me figure out what shampoo and products to use on my hair without pushing any products. She won't let you down. I had an apt with Sylvia for haircut and partial highlights, and I have to say that this was hands down the best experience I have had in a hair salon. I was really impressed how thorough she was in discussing all of my hair needs/problems and how she made sure to follow all of my requests. The color turned out fantastic and exactly how she explained it would, and the haircut made such a difference for my styling routine! Overall, the salon had a great relaxing atmosphere and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. I couldn't be more happy that I found this place and would recommend it in a heartbeat!
