Don't Use Them!! 10/31/2011

We had a problem with our furnace. The guy came out and did a service call. At the end of the service call after he did a bunch of reapirs he said you have a hole in your furnace and needs to be replaced. He said that this particular model had so many problems that the manufacturer is replacing them for nothing and you would only have to pay for the installation which would be about $800. He said this model is bad and the furnace essentially ""melted"". The catch was you had to be the original owner of the house when the furnace was put in (which we are not). We explained to them that money is tight and if there was anything they could do because a new furnace is 5K - 12K. They said sorry, nothing they could do. The furnace is not that old. I think it's about 12 years old. \r \r After a lot of phone conversations they said they couldn't help us out. But, they said they would give us a quote for a new furnace. A few weeks went by and still no quote. After another call, they said they would do it ""the next day"". Still no quote. We then called and they said they wouldn't give us a quote until we settled our bill for our oil delivery (from 4 weeks ago, not that long). Granted we had a bill, but it was only about 30 days since we had gotten it. We paid that immediatly and said we wanted the quote.\r \r Then, we got another bill from them. This was for $432 for the repair work on the furnace. So I called and said how can you charge us that much when you said we need a new furnace. We may not have even done the work had we known the bill was that much. They said they $432 was ""pretty standard"" and ""not actually that much money"" for what they did, but they never told us upfront how much the work would be before they went ahead and did it. They said unless the bill is over $1000 their policy is to just do the work and then bill the customer. I said I thought there bill was ridiculous for repair what is essentially a bad furnace that needs replacing and we were never given a quote to decide if we want the work done prior to starting and completing it before they bill us.\r \r They now say that we have to pay that repair bill or they won't even deliver oil. They said that they had tons of work to customers who are begging us to pay them upfront and they are flat out and couldn't even do it until January.\r \r Pretty scummy I would say. more

Bursaw Oil folks rescued us! 3/14/2011

I ran out of oil today. This is the first time in my long life that has ever happened. I called Bursaw and explained the situation to the office manager, Katherine. Even though I am a relatively new customer (first delivery, which went very smoothly) was in January of this year, and even though Bursaw had already delivered oil to my town this morning before I realized I was out of oil, Katherine immediately started searching for a way to get oil delivered today to rescue us. The rest of the office staff have also been courteous and kind. You might wonder why I ran out of oil: it's because I did not use their automatic delivery option. Lesson learned! more

DO NOT USE BURSAW 12/9/2010

How did they treat me as a new customer? I had to call twice to get an inspection for my heating system so they could deliver oil-they are not good with calling back.\r I had to wait 3 weeks for the appoinment-day comes no one shows up! \r Nothing like a first impression.\r Not worth the waste of time. Im guessing the family/employees wrote the positive reviews here. more

The Best Service Ever! 5/24/2010

Never a Problem, Never an Issue.\r \r We've used this company for almost 8 years for oil deliveries and service. The service guys are prompt, polite, and helpful. This last year, the nice fellow that they sent over; pointed out a potential issue, that we could fix easily, ourselves. This is the sort of service you dream of.\r \r Whenever we need oil, they get it to us, and quickly. We are on their yearly payment plan, which means we pay a monthly installment. If we are going to go over or under that, we pay accordingly. It's the fairest way to pay for oil, and Bursaw is right on the money for market value. My Sweetie works in the oil bizness and knows this stuff.\r \r They are good, friendly, and hardworking folks. I'm sorry that they got one negative review. I'm thinking that the reviewer is blaming them for something that isn't part of their service, as it was an electrical problem, and not covered by them. If my electrical circuit went blooey to my furnace, I wouldn't blame the furnace company. I'd blame the electrician. That's what HE does. Just stating the obvious. Pros: Timing, Service, Kindness Cons: Not One Darned Thing more

Gas & Heating Oil 7/22/2009

Just a short update-we're in a bad financial situation because of job loss, etc. Bursaw's has worked with us and given us ample time to make payments. We appreciate that they care enough to help their customers. We've always been treated politely and have no complaints. They even reduced the usual required minimum so we could afford the oil! Pros: good prices Cons: none so far more

Honest and Inexpensive 11/9/2008

People are so much more likely to give negative reviews online, so here's a positive one.\r \r Been with Bursaw for about a year. When we started, they issued their first delivery without a contract, on a day's notice. Their base prices are pretty decent. Their technicians are heating experts/plumbers (not electricians), and fairly friendly.\r \r When we signed on, they were offering coupon discounts on the first several deliveries. The coupons clearly state that they could be terminated at any time, however Bursaw has continued to honor them even though I have every expectation that it's hurting their bottom line significantly in the current environment. They also offer biofuels, which isn't that common.\r \r Overall, they are reasonable folks with pretty decent prices, and have proven honest and flexible. Pros: Honest company, good prices Cons: Oil is oil... more

The lowest end of customer care I can think of in any business: It is Bursaw Gas and Oil 1/11/2008

I had the owrst ever experience in customerservice with BURSAW Gas & Oil. I was sighned up to do winter heating oil purchase from them through MASS Energy. On 1/7/08 I contacted them to report a heating issue with one of the zones in our house. They sent a technician. When he arrived I explained the situation under which I lost the zone. basically I replaced the thermostats and must have done some wiring ""mess"". I took him up and used my screw driver opened the thermostat I installed and showed what I think the problem could be. He said, ""I am not sure what to do, you need to contact an electrician"". Further he volunteered to give two electrician names. Basically, only thing he did was giving two of his ""buddys"" (electricians) name. matter of fact he learned few things he never knew about the thermostat instalation from me when I shared all what I did during the process.\r \r Well, in 2 days I got a statement in the mail for $89.00. I called the BURSAW Gas and Oil office at 8:30am on 1/11/08 and explained to one of the woman who answered the phone. She said, hmmm I will transfer you to the service department they will answer your question. No one was there so she said I will have some one return the call. \r \r Until 3:30PM I did not get any call, so I called back and asked for the same woman. She said "" I left a message to a person (gave the name) and he is out in the field and he will have to get back to you. I was not sure if he is teh right person because he was the technician who came to my house. I asked, ""is there a manager who I can talk"". She said, ""no you need to talk to the person who I left the message(have the name). I ask does this business have a manager, owner or antything of that nature. She said that the owner DOES NOT answer these questions. Then I said, let me talk to MASS Energy. Immediately she said let me see if the owner (gave the name) theer. Then she came back and said he is on the phone and I am out of luck. What a terrible experience. Cons: terrible people to work with. no concept of customer service and COMMON SENSE more
