This is a 10 plus shop I have been going to Burnside auto even before it belonged to the current owners and they do the best job on any type of car.very fair prices and they always test it out George is the best with customers very fair and they always back up what they do.And on expensive stuff George well help you find a good used part, Pros: null Cons: null more

Excellent service, would do business with them again. 12/8/2011

Had a solid experience taking my VW in last week. Fair pricing, fast service, straightforward communication -- everything I want in a repair shop. Like any good local business, Burnside relies on establishing and maintaining relationships with its customers. Next time I need something done on the car, I will very likely go back to Burnside. Pros: null Cons: null more

Timely, affordable, and honest! 9/23/2011

I've been bringing my car to Burnside for a few years now. First time, dealership told me that based on the symptoms I was describing I would need a new clutch to the tune of $1800. My dad called his Cadillac dealership and asked who has their fleet account and they recommended Burnside. Turns out all I needed was the master and slave cylinders replaced and it came to about $200. Recently had the battery replaced and the rear differential fluid. My Honda has a weird security setting where you need to know the stereo code to reprogram it if it is disconnected from the electrical. Of course since I never write anything down, I had no clue what the code was. George was kind enough to call Honda and obtain the code for me. They also charged me the same amount for parts AND labor for battery replacement as Napa would have charged me to just carry one out. They're also always able to get me in and out in a timely manner. Thanks, George and Tony! :) more

The best in Portland 4/25/2011

I've been going there since I moved to Portland almost 20 years ago. My Subaru was in there many times until I got fed up and bought a VW. They told me they don't really work on VW's and told me a good shop that did. When I sold the VW and got a Mazda I was back at Burnside auto. Never had any issues with them. George is the nicest guy. Always good prices. I now go there maybe once a year and when I call him he always remembers me by name. more

Competent and Considerate 5/27/2010

I'm new to Portland, so I did a bit of research before taking my car to a repair shop. "Burnside" came up a winner, but of course, you always feel like you're taking a big risk when it comes to auto repair. Fortunately, my research paid off. I was greeted promptly (even though they were plenty busy) and was asked questions about the problem with my car in a respectful, straightforward manner. Although I don't know much about cars, my instincts told me these guys knew their stuff and that my car was in capable hands. Trust is hard to come by these days, but not impossible to find. I will definitely take my car back to Burnside for any future repairs or maintenance. Pros: knowledgeable mechanics Cons: they're so busy that parking is difficult more

Very Very Honest shop 2/13/2010

I was quoted $ 600 to do front and rear brake job on my 2000 Honda from another shop when they rotated my tires and I was advised that I have no brakes left . I called around and Burnside automotive repair quoted me the best price . I dropped my car in the morning and took the bus to work and I requested to have my brakes serviced and I was expecting to pay $400 . At 10:00 am , I received a call from Burnside automotive repair that my car is ready and I owe a total of $30 to clean and adjust my rear brakes and that I still have over 50%left on my front brakes and over 60% left on my rear brakes. They also checked and topped off all my fluids at no extra cost . I was very happy with the service and with their honesty . Pros: Exellent service with best prices more

Good, honest mechanics 2/3/2010

We moved to Portland three years ago and it took a while to find a mechanic that we felt good about. We have to look no further. These guys love what they do--and are good at it. They take time to explain exactly what they're doing and why and they do a great job. We had our vw vanagon into two other mechanics repeatedly before taking it to them--they diagnosed the problem immediately--and fixed it perfectly. I highly recommend them. Pros: reliable and honest Cons: none more

EXELLENT SERVICE 5/8/2009

I had my car at the dealership and they told me that I have a blown headgasket and it is going to cost me $3100 dollars to fix it . I called Burnside automotive repair for a second opinion . They towed my car & reassessed it and they told me that I do not have a blown headgasket but rather an intake manifold gasket leaking . they fixed my car for $345 in the same day , and my car has been running great since . I love those guys , they are very friendly and very honest. Pros: VERY HONEST SHOP more

Think twice before using this tow service. 12/16/2008

I called Burnside Towing because I really needed help on one of those icy days during the December cold snap. The tow driver showed up already agitated. When I tried to ask some questions relating to how he was going to tow the car, he launched into a tirade of expletives, and stormed off leaving me stranded. Very bad experience.... more
