I usually use other car rental agencies, but because of Stanford's graduation was forced to use Budget (off of Arastradero) as the other rentals were sold out. Despite reserving a car for 5:00 pm, my wife was told that I had to rent the car at 1:00 pm and park it on the street in order to keep the reservation. The car was not cleaned appropriately, the gas tank was almost on F (probably at least 1 gallon shy of full). When I showed up to rent the car, I noticed several other cars that were available but sequestered in the back parking lot. I spoke with the manager about the fact that we did not need the car until 5:00pm. I asked if they did drop off and pickup service and they said yes. On the day I returned the car, at 2:00pm, I was told that I would be charged for an entire extra day (bear in mind I spoke to the owner about having a reservation at 5:00pm, NOT needing the car until 5:00pm, and the fact that the car was parked idly on the street until 5:00pm that day). To add insult to injury my wife had called earlier and asked if I could get a ride to Menlo park, to which she was informed they did not do, so instead she asked for a ride to palo alto. When I asked for a ride to palo alto, I was informed they would not do that - despite the fact my wife had called earlier. I ended up having to walk about 5 miles back to Menlo Park. Don't ever waste your money here...even if it costs 10 bucks more, go elsewhere, the service at all the other Palo Alto rental agencies is worth it.
