We gathered quite a few quotes for a small construction project (turning a loft area into a 4th bedroom) & painting the whole downstairs (1st floor). Doug (the owner) gave quite the sales pitch & made me believe he was the #1 guy for the job. He had all the paper work (insurance, bonded, etc.) however I found nothing that came out of his mouth to ring true. He claimed they did not sub-contract - but the first day on the job the contractor doing the work said he was a sub-contractor. The work ""team"" showed up in unmarked cars, late (if at all) and admitted to be on prescription painkillers while doing the work. We later found dozens empty beer cans shoved into the rafters of our basement (where they ate lunch). These were just a few of the MANY issues. The original quote for the project was 3-5 days...5 months later we weren't even half way through the work. The contractor just stopped showing up & my repeated emails & calls to Doug and his office were never returned. Finally, he responded & came out to see the job site (which he refused to do the entire time regardless of my repeated requests). Doug agreed that the job was nothing but a mess. The walls built were unsafe &, electrical was not done properly & was a fire hazard, the house was left a mess, our wood flooring covered in paint, the painting done was below acceptable, etc. etc. Doug promised to have the project completed ASAP & apologized profusely for what we had been left with. Needless to say, we never heard from him again. We put complaints into the appropriate bureau requesting our money to be refunded - however Doug didn't respond. Check him out on any review page & his rating is unsatisfactory. That should say it all. We learned a hard lesson...don't believe everything anyone tells you & go with a company which you have a good reference for - which I doubt is Buckeye Painting Pros! We contracted Buckeye Painting Pros to paint the exterior of our house and detached garage for $2285. The sales pitch from Doug (owner) was impressive. His bid was the lowest we received. That should have been a clue, but with a 5 year written guarantee backing up the work we thought we had nothing to worry about. The crew was friendly & initially kept the work site mostly clean. Once the prep work was complete, we became concerned. There seemed to be a lot of peeling paint remaining on the house & garage. Cracks were not caulked. So we called the foreman, Steve. He assured us that it would be taken care of & the following day the house was painted. When the job was complete, we inspected the work & pointed out many spots were the paint was already peeling due to the poor prep work. They quickly scrape & re-paint a few areas & promised he would come out & correct any other areas we would find the following week. (After this final scraping they did not clean up their mess and the glass & handles on our new storm doors were covered in paint speckles.) The very next day, we called to have them come out again. For the next 6 months we called & called the foreman. Several meetings were scheduled but each time he failed to show up. After 6 months we had had enough & began to call & email everyone at the company we could find. We then received an email from Doug & a few days later the guys were back & worked only on the garage. As of today, the crew has not returned to work on the house. All emails & calls to Doug and his corporate offices asking when this might occur are now simply being ignored. We have patiently waited now for 7 months to have this issue resolved! Their 5 yr guarantee is completely worthless. Pros: Price Cons: Customer Service & 5 Year Guarantee more
