Best

We visited Denver last week and ate at Bubba Gump's. Not once, but twice!!

Worst

This place has really gone downhill. The food is all pre-packaged and fermented with exotic polymers. Our party had three different entrees and each tasted similar. Unfortunate...

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/9/2013

Watch your credit card. On 08/09/2013 a tip of 18.00 turn , by a miracle, into over 30.00. This was obviously not a key error. I found out, because I left my card there and called the bank to make sure it was not used improperly. The management while trying to be polite was only making it worse by not simply fixing it. Just kept saying they would . After 10 min of waiting I finally left. I checked with my bank later and my money for the tip and the meal was returned. However, This should not have happened. This was not a simple key error. you cant key 18.00 into over 30.00 by accident. It's unfortunate, but a lot of credit card fraud is by employees at places you use your card. Just sad. more

i didn't like it. not a fun place a stupid place more

Disappointing 12/25/2011

Went for a birthday. Staff interacted with the groups but left the smaller tables orphans. The restaurant is ""sign"" themed. Smaller tables should have a sign that says, ""Cook your own, serve your own"". Food was disappointing compared to all the hype. We will never return, nor recommend. more

pretty good! 12/11/2011

I really like bubba gump! they have nice service, and there food is pretty good, but could be better. I usually order the grilled shrimp and sometimes its a tad overcooked but usually its delicious! improvements could be made, but its pretty good overall! more

Great food and vibe, puts me in a vacation mood upon arrival. A great place to escape and enjoy the ""stage"". more

nothing special 8/13/2010

Couple of friends and I went there last night. The place is pretty easy to find, interior decor is really nice. However, the food was ehhh. The cajun seasoning have some weird taste to it, and it was bland. We order a 3/4 lb shrimp, the Garlic butter, is mainly just butter. Over all I had high hope for this place, I thought the food was going to be over the top. But it turns out not so great. more

Ok, but not impressive? 11/29/2009

My wife and I found the place very disappointing. The staff was very nice and greeted us outside and made us very welcome. Our waiter was attentive and talkative, not that smiley though, but it wasn't a problem. The place stunk, almost like a raw or stale shrimp smell, I have been to several seafood restaurants and never smelt anything so bad. My wife ordered fish and chips, it was so greasy, and the mahi mahi was tasteless. I ordered the Shrimp sampler, with a Varity of sauces. The chilled shrimp was tasteless and most had the veins in, the other three types were tasteless had to order the hot Cajun sauce to make them edible. Our bill for two people was high, I don't mind paying high prices for seafood, but I expect high quality, not this junk. If you want good seafood, go to one of Denver's excellent non-franchise seafood restaurants, heck even Chili?s or Applebee?s beats this place hands down. Pros: The staff was very nice and greeted us well Cons: poor quality food, pricey, and lack of value more

The place to be for a PARTY!! 10/24/2009

We went to the Gumps to celebrate a birthday and it was so much fun. They made my boyfriend stand on a chair and I think everyone in the entire restaurant was singing and clapping. It was amazing!! I recorded it and am going to put it on you tube. It was so much fun. The food was awesome too. I ordered the shrimpers heaven and could not even eat half of eat. I got a second meal with my doggie bag. VALUE!! I read the negative review when logging on to do mine and I am confused by their comments. I think sometimes people with no sense oh humor or personality should not go to fun places. This place rocked and I cannot wait till another friend has a birthday. We are so there. Oh- and they let us play ping pong in there private banquet room. YEA!! Pros: Amazing food, fun staff, all around good time Cons: location keeps it hidden, but it is my gem... more

Ok, but not impressive 9/21/2009

My friend and I went there for lunch and overall I found the place very disappointing. The staff was very nice and greeted us outside and made us very welcome. Our waiter was attentive and talkative, not that smiley though, but it wasn't a problem. The place stunk, almost like a raw or stale shrimp smell, I have been to several seafood restaurants and never smelt anything so bad. Our garlic bread was crisp and tasty. My fish and chips had nice fries, but the mahi mahi was tasteless. The mudpie dessert had no flavor, except for tons & tons of sugar. Our bill was $44.18 for two people, I don't mind paying high prices for seafood, but I expect high quality, not this junk. If you want good seafood, go to one of Denver's excellent non-franchise seafood restaurants, heck even Chilli's or Applebees beats this place hands down. The only saving grace was the good service (4 stars) the food was awful. Pros: Good service Cons: decor, poor quality entrees, pricey, and lack of value more

Downhill 8/16/2009

This place has really gone downhill. The food is all pre-packaged and fermented with exotic polymers. Our party had three different entrees and each tasted similar. Unfortunately this chain has gone the way of other nation chains by charging high prices for packaged food. A real shame, b/c it's the first restaurant outside the Convention Center and gives a poor representation to visitors of some really good restaurants on 16th St. Needed, better floor management and wait staff, broader menu selection, real chefs preparing fresh meals. Pros: Fun atmosphere, decor Cons: Packaged food, too many staff, lack of person service more

Hummmmmm 12/16/2008

The decor is awesome, even though they should only play the Forrest Gump soundtrack (okay, I know it would drive the wait staff crazy) but other than that, it's overpriced and has little selection. Pros: Decor Cons: Expensive more

What a fun place! 12/13/2008

Our family loves Bubba Gumps! The food is always consistent, and delicious - though not real healthy. The atmosphere is fun and different. Everyone we take here loves it as well - it is a great place to take out of town guests. Pros: ambience, originality, food Cons: not many healthy choices more

Overpriced (unless you are paying per-diem) 7/14/2008

This place is overpriced for people working downtown who are just looking to get something to eat in a group ($20-$25) each. This would be ok if you are catching a play or a balet nearby, but not as a lunch stop. The food is decent but you are basically paying for the theme (Forest Gump Movie in case for some reason you were not aware). My advice would be to go elsewhere to lunch or even to dinner for the money. Pros: Ambience Cons: Overpriced (paying for Ambience) more

Boring and what do we need another second rate chain restaurant for anyway. 7/9/2008

It's a step above Red Lobster. Save yourself the agony of a very common chain and go to Gumbos on the 16th street mall. Gumbos has great ambiance, super food and what a fun location. Probably a chain too, but at least you will bet your money's worth. Pros: Location....but I'd rather walk to a better restaurant or take a cab. Cons: Well the food is poor quality...tacky atmosphere and geared toward people who don't know good shrimp. more

Very convenient location - great drinks 3/6/2008

Had drinks and dinner after a function at the conventions center with some business colleagues. We had a huge meal and a ton of really good drinks. Highly recommended. Pros: very convenient location - generous portions more
