one of the most beautiful Botanical gardens - I can't wait for spring. Make sure you go to the scent garden and smell the chocolate peppermint. Feed the fish in the japanese meditation garden, and enjoy an indoor rain forrest too - bring the kids - there's plenty of room for them to run around. more

Great reprieve! 7/13/2010

If you're looking for that perfect afternoon away from the city... without having to travel - this is it! Sit down, relax, breathe in, play with the koi. Be alone, be with friends, be with family. Just simply be. This place is such a gift, and makes me love Brooklyn to the core. more

Botanical Gardens 7/11/2009

Springa nd summer times beautiful plants, ;eaves,a nd flowers grow, especially by the river. I saw occasionally bunny rabbits here which shocked me for a place like Brooklyn which has nature. This is located in prospect park. I like the lillys in the ponda nd gift shop where they have clothes, books, souvineers,a nd buts beex wax lip balm. The cherry blossoms are awesome and food is expensive here. Lots of insects so bring deoderant, and a nice fresh small from the flowers. Beware of bees!!!!!!!! Pros: Nice in the summer Cons: Dead in the winter more

GORGEOUS!!!! 11/2/2007

I love the botanical garden, because it takes u away from the concrete jungle of BROOKLYN..its soothing, romantic array of organic flowers are absolutely breathtaking. I love goin to the garden on the weekends with my fiance' and our children...because they get to pick the type of flowers they want to take home and plant in our own garden. I would recommend anyone go just for a romantic outing or just to get some solitude. Its also PERFECT for weddings Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: NOTHING more

Just Gorgeous! 2/25/2004

What else can I say? This place is just breathtaking. No matter which path you take you are in for a beautiful esthetic treat. Perfect location for Wedding photos, or a wedding ceremony. Perfect for a little escape from the concrete jungle. Check out the Japenese garden! Pros: Vibrant Colors!, Fragarent, Soothing more

Lotta Green for a Little Green 6/2/2002

On Saturdays until noon and on Tuesdays all day, you can get in for free but for the forgetful (What day is it, again?), a mere $3 admission opens the gates to this evergreen respite from city living on every other day of the week. I make an annual pilgrimage for the Christmas tree lights decorations in the winter, but summer is the opportune time for strolling through The Cranford Rose Garden which has over 1,000 varieties to see...and smell. Be sure to gambol down the Celebrity Path which honors Brooklynites like Woody Allen, Isaac Asimov, and Stephanie Mills--to name a few. Interactive types will find classes in composting, floral arranging and landscape architecture. This Garden may look like the perfect place for a picnic but the single area where eating is permitted is the Terrace Cafe. The food isn't that good there. I'd advocate eating beforehand. more

Brooklyn's Secret Garden 5/19/2002

Right off Grand Army Plaza, this spectacular garden offers an enormous variety of vegetation, from the traditional florals and arched trees (perfect for wedding settings) to the exotics inside in the conservatory, there's something to please every aesthetic palate. (Plus, for DIYers, there's an extensive plant shop on the premises.) Whether you're looking for a contemplative stroll in the beauties of nature or just a way to walk off that barbeque without getting bored, the Garden's the perfect weekend walk. more
