Rude and overpriced 8/7/2012

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Went there a few nights ago and the bartender starts getting angry at my friend for throwing a couple of napkins on the ground. My friend apologized and the bartender, a squat little ugly nobody, just keeps getting angrier and asks my friend if he'd like it if someone came to his home and threw napkins on the floor. My friend asked if the bartender lived there and the bartender punched him! And not just once either, like about 6 times! And then SCREAMED for us to get out. We had done NOTHING to provoke a physical assault like that. And even before that, the drinks were watered down, the service was rather slow and the food was barely edible. I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever! more

Overall a great place to go 4/29/2012

My fiance and I have made Broadway Station our place to go when we want to have a night out. The ambiance is great. Even though we are not into the sports being watched on the tv's, the booths combined with the music, offer up a relaxed yet lively place to be. Being conveniently located right on Broadway and 31st in Astoria, we are close to home. The sliders are excellent and you can usually get food throughout the entire night till the wee hours of the morning. I find the staff to be welcoming and friendly. I recommend this place to my friends all the time. more

Rude and overpriced. 12/19/2011

I have been going to this bar since I moved to Astoria 6 years ago. After being thrown out by the bouncer and bartender, and being grabbed by the bouncer, I am never returning. I had dozed off in a booth waiting for a friend, and the bouncer came up and was incredibly rude. When I asked for him to explain why I was being thrown out, he could not give me answer. I called when I returned home and asked for the name of the Manager, I was hung up on. I do not appreciate being grabbed and humiliated. I will never return to this bar and I would not recommend it to anyone. more

Soggy wings 9/5/2008

We dropped by to watch the Giants game last night. We asked for a booth but were told no because they only seat 3-4 people there (only 2 in our group). Ordered buffalo wings and they came out soggy!\r Also, as we sat there, two groups of 2 people were seated in the booths! We've had trouble here before but gave it another try because of the facelift. Never again! more

Great place to go 7/17/2008

The place is great for friends to gather and have a few drinks. Its a place to meet people as well. My boyfriend and I love going there. The bartenders are great they are friendly and make everyone feel welcome. Pros: Great bartenders Cons: The cons are none more

Local Bar 11/29/2007

I?ve lived in Astoria for about 5 years now, and every once in a while I head to Bway station. The bar can use a face lift, but it?s the kinda place you can go to in sweat pants to see familiar faces and play tunes on the jukebox. Service has always been great, regulars frequent the bar, food can be updated but for the most part the burgers are great! If you want to hang out at a local pub this is the place! Pros: great staff, jukebox, tv's, pool table Cons: the place needs to be updated more

Boo! 10/18/2007

This is my first time writing a review, but there was something about this place that made me cringe enough to actually sign up for an account and write this. I was in town from Michigan visiting a friend who occasionally stops off to watch the Mets get their butts kicked. There was an incident outside the bar with a lot of yelling (not really sure what all this was about), and many of us went out to see what was going on. I noticed this obnoxious, squat, square-headed guy yelling all kinds of obscenities like he owned the block or something. I asked my friend ""who the hell is this guy?"" and he told me it was the owner. It explained a lot. The Karaoke person is a huge tool, who hits on people's girlfriends and only lets certain people like ""The Linzer"" sing. This is one of many really annoying pet names given to people who sing here apparently in preparation for American Idol. There is an intimidating entourage that mingles and bullies people who are not regulars. The drinks are overpriced, and the place is in desperate need of remodeling. The pool table eats quarters, and the waitress skips songs on the jukebox when she doesn't like them. Don't order the Jalape?o poppers, or the wings, or the burger. The poppers are hardly ideal for masticating, and are filled with disgusting cheese and even the cold spaghetti sauce provided for dipping doesn't cover up the taste of them. The burger is served on a really dry bun and (in my case) was grossly undercooked, despite the fact I ordered it well done, and the wings taste like petrified beef jerky. Oh, the buy-back policy: Sometimes people who are liked by the bartenders get every fourth drink for free, but if they don't know you or like you, they either forget or don't mention it in the first place. Oh, but there are a lot of TV screens (awesome!), and I've heard that on rare occasions, one can add up all the teeth of the females in the bar and get a full set. That's something, I guess. Pros: no matter what, you're the best looking guy in the bar Cons: food, people, drinks, service, owner, entourage, etc. more

This is definately not ""Cheers""! 5/29/2006

My first encounter with the place was actually last year. The place is cold in atmosphere. The bartending staff use chip ice in high ball glasses to water down drinks and are way too over priced. The place seems to be overrun by a click oriented crowd with an unfriendly environment to any and all outsiders who are not considered regulars. The karaoke host only allows his select group of individuals to perform rudely turning away anyone who is not part of the predominantly Irish clientele. I do have a word that perfectly describes the type of individuals running this establishment; but unfortunately, I cannot use it here! \r \r If you want comfort, warmth and good hospitality this is not it! \r Go elsewhere! \r Pros: NONE AT ALL! Cons: Watered Down Drinks, Unfriendly Atmosphere, Subpar Karaoke & Host more

Make over completed 6/16/2005

8 to 10 years ago this was an ""old men go to die"" bar. Now it's clean, younger, hip,a tad trendy...But comfy as an old shoe. The brothers (eleventeen of them it seems) alway have a hand out in welcome, not to say the staff(some from day one,and rare for a bar) isn't as welcoming. the Burger may not be every bit as good as the fabled Corner Bistro burger but its ""every bit good"" and fairly priced.T.V.s galore Good mix of tunes on the box .With the p-table,darts,soft ball teams, you have an easy none commital way to extend newfound friendships out side the bar. Wineturtle wishes they would expand the glasswine past the ""Wine in a Box"" stuff but there are plenty of cold frostybeers on tap and in the bottle. The barstaff can make a mean trendo drink, and still have a good hand in making the 'old standards with flare. Pros: Family run, Fair prices, Comfy feel to it more

Fantastic spot 12/23/2003

This is one of the best pubs in the Astoria area. The bartenders are friendly and funny, and if you go a couple of times or 10, they'll have your favorite beverage settled in front of you before you can sit down at the bar. Here, you are not just a bunch of dollar bills to them, you're a face and a name that they welcome back again and again. The best time to hit this pub is Thursday nights for chaotic and fun Karaoke night. There is a loyal following of singers who range from star quality to the drunk guy who finally gets up the nerve to sing. It's a lot of fun. Come out and you'll see. Pros: great bartenders, cheap prices, good crowd/patrons more

Where Everybody Knows Your Name 5/23/2003

This local pub is always comfortable, service is always friendly and they have a great burger that rivals ""Corner Bistro's"" in taste. This place has local bands that perform, karoake nights, a pool table in it's own private room, the Golden Tee golf game, a Juke Box and enough televisions (with sports on it) to cover every point of view in the place. You can't go wrong by going here if you just want to have a relaxed and fun time. more

Best spot in Queens 1/27/2003

It's a family affair at this family owned bar and grill. The beers are always cold and the food is good. The atmosphere is what draws the crowd. Great people and the fact that if you come a few times, the bartender will remember your name and drink. Live music and karaoke make this place a blast. Pros: Great service, Laid-back, Many TVs more
