would give Broad Street Vet a minus rating if it were possible. If you love your pet, don't let them anywhere near Broad Street Vet.
My beloved little dog got sick in her 9th year, we still do not know what it was. We had just moved to San Luis Obispo and scheduled an appointment with Broad Street Vet as it is near our new home.
The vet said they wanted to keep her overnight to rehydrate her and give her blood tests to see what was wrong. They ended up keeping her 6 days. I called every morning and sometimes twice a day, only to be told that she was improving but needed more time. On the third day I went in but they would not let me see her. On the fifth day I went in again and was again told I couldn't go back as she the ""recovery area"" was not open to the public and she was tethered to an IV.
On the seventh day I went and they again told me I couldn't see her. I walked back into the ""recovery area"" with the front desk person fluttering and sputtering that I was not allowed. She was joined by an attendant and both put their hands on my arms to try to get me back out in the waiting area.
I found my beloved little dog in a cage, lying on a thin dirty towel. No IV. No water. No food. Dirty, matted hair with poop and urine in it. She could not stand up or move anything but her eyes, which pleaded with me to rescue her. She was much worse than when I brought her in the week before.
I opened the cage as the front desk person threatened to call the cops. I was beyond speaking to them and walked out of Broad Street Vet with my sweet dog, who was now completely paralyzed. So much for all their assurances that she had been getting better.
I took her to another vet later that day and we had to put her to sleep. I will never forgive myself for allowing Broad Street Vet to fool me, to lie to me, to keep me from seeing for myself that my sweet girl was suffering so badly at their hands. The last week of her life she lay abandoned and uncared for. Never again will I allow anyone to prevent me from seeing my loved ones. I don't care one bit if a vet or a doctor doesn't like me for it. Never again.
The bill was over $1000. Greedy, incompetent liars. Stupidly I paid the bill, because I always pay my bills, but today I would not do it. I would sue them for property damage, because you can't do more than that when it's a pet.
But what I can do now is warn people that Broad Street Vet is a horrible place. The vets are cold. The front desk people are friendly but it's an act. That is the person who assured me over and over that my dog was improving.
If you love your animals, you will never never let Broad Street Vet get their hands on them.
