Breken is my morning stop during the work week and I've come to know and love the ladies that work there. The baked goods are delicious, the coffee is great, and when I get a chance to eat lunch there, it's always yummy. Every month or two they display an artists work on their walls. I was fortunate to be one of those artists. And if you plan to hang out, the cafe has lots of windows and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend Breken! more

Breken is my favorite morning spot. It's food and drinks are fantastic, but it's the feel of the place that brings me back weekly at least. It's a great place to meet friends or work acquaintances. On any one day you'll see kids playing in the kid corner, a group of police officers sipping a cup of joe, entrepreneurs meeting over triple latte's, mom or dads hanging out after dropping the kids at school and a handful of individuals working away on their varied laptops. Great food, awesome atmosphere, friendly staff, A quintessential Portland Café. Breken gets even better when the weather gets warm and they open the roll up doors. I think they should start a "Train Special", anytime there is a train all drinks and baked goods are half off until the crossing arms go up. Any time I get stuck behind a train I always find myself in Breken to pass the time. more

Great coffee: I've been going to Breken since they opened, and they've never once pulled a bitter shot of coffee on me. I wish I could say the same about most of the other coffee shops in Portland. Everybody working there is awesome too. I mentioned to Jessica once that my favorite cookie was oatmeal raisin, and she started making oatmeal raisin cookies. As far as food goes, I think that they make the best tuna melt in the world. My only complaint is that they took the steak salad off the menu. more

Best coffee in Portland, with a long list of choices to eat with your coffee and many are healthy choices too!... Come back for lunch and you'll find tasty and healthy sandwiches and salads. My favorite coffee, snack and lunch place in NW Portland!!! more

The food here is delicious. Sandwiches are awesome and the service is fantastic. It is also a great spot to spend some time. My daughters school is right across and she also loves to come here for a bite! more
