I knew that such bread existed -- I have walked the streets of Paris at 5 a.m. and seen the men on bicycles with baskets overflowing with baguettes, the warmn, humid aroma of fresh bread filling the streets.
Step inside the humble Breadfarm storefront in beautiful downtown Edison, and the worksers in your olfactory are going to be doing overtime.
The place is a feast for the eyes as well -- baskets of baguettes, grainy farmer bread and rye loaves cover the counter, as bakers work their crafts before your eyes.
But don't let your eyes do all the feasting. Pick up a baguette and stroll next door to "Slough Foods" and pick up some ripe cheese and some copacolla and prepare for a taste of heaven.
The crips crust, and wonderfully airy, chewy center of the baguette is unmatched. The slightly sourdough adds depth and dimension to the grainy farmer bread. Their sourdough rye is unmatched when paired with a little Gulden's brown mustard and a slice of excellent roast beef or smoked ham.
