Megaton came up through the ranks in Rio and is an established name in BJJ and the quality of instruction at this dojo is testament to his name. I train in Vegas, but I stopped by Megaton?s when I was in town because I had heard good things about him. Megaton's dojo is right up there among my favorite places to train. You spend a lot more mat time than other schools that waste time talking and conditioning which anyone can do outside. It?s obvious that you?re in there to learn BJJ, and the BS is cut out. There is a definite team atmosphere there that I?ve not seen as strong as other schools. The team reliably comes in first or second in the big AZ tournament, and only comes in second when the school hosting the tournament takes it. \r
If you are a tap-out wearing MMA poser, this is probably not the school for you. There are plenty of other MMA schools in the area where you can sit around and talk and pretend you?re in the UFC, while Megaton?s crew continues to train away with top-notch instruction. Definitely stop in and at least check it out to compare before you decide to go with one of the others.
Pros: 4 black belts, lots of training, good team, great instruction
Cons: hot in August
