I've been going to John, the PA, for years and find his bedside manner and care unmatched, but after my last visit I won't be back. I don't object to seeing a PA over the doctor, ...

nice doctor, marginal service 6/30/2009

Dr Bray seems kind and competent, and I like the cat! The need for frequent office visits for BP medication seems excessive, as I monitor my BP regularly and know when something is awry. It feels more like the office needs the billing, and I have a high copay. Followup is haphazard - it can take days to get a reply, and then action on the request can take a few more days. The office manager nearly yelled at me once, saying a prescription was mailed on a certain date. When it finally arrived, it was postmarked a week later. Pros: nearby Cons: front office more

Dr. Brays practice is horrible and is completely incompetent. I rely on my medicine everyday to keep me alive, and her office neglected to write or call in my life-depending / life-saving prescription 12/16/2008

Dr. Brays practice is horrible and is completely incompetent. I rely on my medicine everyday to keep me alive, and her office neglected to write or call in my life-depending / life-saving prescription. On the day I needed the medicine I went into the office in person and requested them to call in the prescrip. They did not do it that day, and I had explained it was life threatening. Nor did they call it in the next day. THIS PLACE F0CKING SUX @SS they deserve to get shut down! Pros: Everything is a joke at this place Cons: Mistreat patients and DONT GIVE A FLYING F-CK about you more

Catherine Bray 12/10/2008

I was just looking up Dr. Brays phone number (because I had input it incorrectly in my new phone) and was astounded to see bad reviews on the this site for her office. My question would be: If you are a woman, and have you ever felt while you were at the doctors office that you were being marginalized, or that you were not being taken seriously? I have felt that way many times. more

Wonderful practice 9/29/2008

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with this practice. True, i have never, ever seen Dr. Bray. My doctor, i guess i should say nurse practitioner, John Anderson is who i see. He is awesome and i never would have known he was not a doctor had he not told me. He does the same things a doctor does anyway so it makes no difference to me. Additionally, the rest of the staff is very polite and friendly and i've never had to wait in the waiting lounge for any considerable length of time either. The office is very nice, homey, and comfortable and it has nice antiques to look at. Also, i LOVE the fact that a cat is allowed to roam the office and keep people company. If you are looking for a good doctor, go to Dr. Bray's office. Even if you dont or never see Dr. Bray go there anyway. The nurse practioners are very skilled, professional and polite. Another thing, when i have called to get a prescription refilled or make an appointment the people that answer the phone have been very polite. Pay absolutely no attention to the negative reviews for this practice. They are unfair and they obviously have no clue about what nurse practioners do. Pros: Very nice N.P., cat, nice office more

Worst doctor's office I have ever visited. 7/8/2008

I wish there were fewer than one star on the rating scale so I could tell potential patients just how lowly I esteem this practice. After I left, I looked up the state board of medicine and learned that Bray was on probation(she since is off). It is no wonder. Keep looking for another doctor; don't go to this place. Surely the five-star ratings come from friends and family. Pros: Absolutely none. Cons: Rudeness, laxness. Felt like I was in a hippie den. more

I won't be back--too much emphasis on rates rather than care 7/4/2008

I've been going to John, the PA, for years and find his bedside manner and care unmatched, but after my last visit I won't be back. I don't object to seeing a PA over the doctor, per se, but I don't think I should pay Doctor rates and receive PA care. Pros: Great physician's assistant, polite staff, they'll try to work you in on short notice Cons: Long waits, no access to doctor, the occasional billing mistake more

Dr. Bray and staff are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 6/27/2008

Don't listen to the NEGATIVE reviews!!! Try it for yourself. I have been going to Dr. Bray's office for over 8 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. I LOVE Dr. Bray, the Nurse Practioner(John) and all of the staff. Everyone is great!!! I personally LOVE seeing the nurse practioner (John) versus Dr. Bray. We have a GREAT relationship. He cares so much about his patients and truly is a wonderful guy!! Dr. Bray is great as well. I've seen her numerous times, but I just bonded more with the nurse practioner (John). My husband is the opposite. He prefers seeing Dr. Bray. The office is filled with antiques and old medicine bottles that were a interest to me as well as my eight year old son. He had many questions upon seeing all of the old medicine bottles, instruments, etc. My three year old daughter gets a kick out of sitting in an antique school desk when we visit. The staff is wonderful and I've never been mistreated or felt that the staff wasn't concern with my needs. They always address all concerns when I've phoned in or came in to the doctor's office. Again I will say I LOVE this office and staff. They make you fill like family.. Pros: concerned, professional, nice, relaxed, clean, Cons: not any more

Dr. Bray's Office Visits 5/30/2008

I am totally shock of the negative remarks of Dr. Bray's office. I have been going to her office for the past 3 years and have never encounter anything negative. The receptionist does her job well and will not allow people to run over her. An office must have rules and you must obey them! The cat, love the aviance, the antiques, everything. I felt at home, my mom was an herbalogist, so her waiting room is unique! I always got to see Dr. Bray. You must request to have her in your visit, come now, she's a busy woman!!! The staff has always treated me with respect to privacy and courtesy! I wouldn't go anywhere else! I have been to many a doctor here in the Atlanta area and have not come to finding anyone that treats you so well and takes the time to listen to you. You are not rushed in or rushed through your appointment. Keep up the great work Dr. Bray and your staff! Pros: Personal, takes time to listen, not rushed in or through the appointment time, thorough Cons: Waiting - always the case in a good doctor's office more

We love this office! 5/15/2008

When my husband looked Dr. Bray's office phone number up on line because he was sick, we were both shocked to see the negative remarks about Dr. Bray's practice. Pros: Small office, attentive staff, more

Never had a problem 4/28/2008

I have been to Dr. Brays for a 4-5 years. I am shocked to see these reviews because I never experienced anything similar to these ""cons"". I am not saying these people didn't have bad experiences here, but for me I have had zero problems, friendly receptionist, and short waits. I have never seen Dr. Bray but who the hell cares?? The people there are qualified well enough to handle your sickness I promise you that.. and there is a comfortable feeling I got from the place. It just seems only the people that had bad experiences have rated this place which is completely underrated. Pros: Two Thumbs Up more

Why Bother anymore.... 3/17/2008

I've been a patient there for more than a decade and haven't seen Dr. Bray for the last 9 years I believe. The general feel has been going downhill for quite a while. They have screwed up every other prescription for me. For the longest time I could not believe that they allowed a CAT to roam freely in the office!!!! In a Dr.'s office????? How unhealthy can it be? Cat stuff in a box somewhere? I'm alergic to cat's ! The service has been just ok, no better or worse than a lot of other places, however, I ""joined"" her practice based on seeing her, my releationship with her, etc. I can understand once established , a Dr. may choose to ease off on the amount of work, enjoy life a little more after years of hard work and a level of success, but that is her choice, not mine. I choose to end my business with the office, I'd rather see someone I feel good about, it's all about ME and my health, how I feel about seeing my Dr., not a practitioner (although he seems smart enough). I'm just kind of over it...time to move on. Pros: location is good for me Cons: no dr. actually there anymore more

I Never Had a Problem but... 3/17/2008

I've been with this practice for years. I like the homey feel of the office. The staff have always been friendly to me and I can usually get an appointment when needed. I have had some long waits but my visits usually took care of my illnesses. My only gripe would be that I've never met or seen Dr. Bray in person. I do find that strange since it is her practice. Also, I don't necessarily like the cat but if you say something, the staff will put it up. I don't go to the doctor often so I guess that's why I've been with this practice for so long. I only go to this office only when needed which can be some number of years in between visits. Thank God for good health. more

Dr. Bray's office. Worst customer service, worst receptionist I have ever had to deal with. 3/3/2008

My daughter was a patient in Dr. Bray's office last year. Cons: Rude Receptionist. Bad Customer Service. more

The good doctor you never see 2/21/2008

I've been Dr. Bray's patient for two years and actually saw the doctor only once -- and that was because I needed special tests run before major surgery, otherwise I've been seen by nurse practitioners. The NPs are fine, and I know they are well-educated medical professionals, but I think it would be good customer service for the doctor to introduce herself to new patients on their first visit, if possible. I didn't even know what she looked like until she ""had"" to see me a couple months ago. Her name alone is on the sign outside, after all. I was in a giant bureaucratic HMO for 12 years, and saw my primary care physician at least once a year (probably went to the doc 2-3 times a year on average). Again, I'm not anti-nurse practitioner, but I do actually want to see the doctor on occasion. more

From the frying pan into the fire? 12/19/2007

I have been a patient of Dr. Bray for about 5 years now. I saw her once in 2002 and have seen Terri, one of the NPs since. Terri is great - but the rest of the staff, AWFUL. I am extra nice to the receptionist, even though she has been nasty to me on several occassions because if I am not - I'm afraid she would do something ""creative"" with my records. Plus I'm not really a mean person. I know that her job isn't easy. Still, perhaps she might want to find a job with less customer contact. Sadly, the nurses or assistants who actually do your BP, temp and weight, change with regularity. My last visit the nurse argued with me about something in my chart. She demanded I get off the table ""show me where it is, I can't find it."" Needless to say once I did, she cooled down a little but still, her attitude was extremely unprofessional. Visit before that - the nurse poked me so many times for a draw she had to get someone else to do it and I had a bruise for a week. Just a thought - if staff aren't sticking around there might be an issue that Dr. Bray might want to examine? Howabout these reviews? Pros: Close to home. Parking. Nice cats. Terri! Cons: Does Dr. Bray even work there anymore? more

If you can ever actually get in to see Dr. Bray she's great. But you won't! Give it up. 10/24/2007

Front staff is not alwas rude, but close to it. Uncaring is a better word. They act like you are bothering them when you call, and they can't get rid of you soon enough. I needed a prescription refilled once and when CVS faxed the request, the nursing staff indicated in the CHART notes that a refill HAD been authorized, but did not follow through by letting the pharmacy know, so CVS couldn't refill it. After repeatedly calling CVS to contact Dr. Bray's office, CVS told me they got a return fax to ""quit bothering them"". Obviously if the script HAD been authorized for a refill, CVS would not be repeatedly faxing for authorization. DUH! Instead of finding out what was wrong, Dr. Bray's staff blew both CVS and myself off completely! This was a medication that COULD NOT be stopped without a gradual tapering off. I went through more than a month of dangerous, uncomfortable, and scary withdrawal symptoms before being able to finally actually talk with the medical staff (as opposed to front office administration), and when they finally realized that no approval had actually been SENT to CVS, they finally faxed an authorization (no apology though). I was horribly frightened that I would have a stroke or something before I could get anyone to listen to me. You will probably not get anyone on the ""medical staff"" verbally, so give up. Best you can do is leave a voicemail and hope someone actually listens and follows through. If you have ongoing medical problems, versus someone who only occasionally needs to see a Physician, pick another office. Dr. Bray is a good doctor, her PA's are OK, but you simply cannot get in, or ever get a ""live body"" to talk to. What good is a doctor without a backup staff? The receptionist will only transfer you to the nurses line to leave a message. I have had experiences like this in other medical offices, even a surgeon. Unfortunately it seems the work ethic of this unretired generation stinks. It's called LAZY. Barely get by. Pros: Dr. Bray is good-but you'll never see her, almost as bad for the PA's. Cons: Front office staff acts like they can't be bothered with you. Can't get into see the Doctor. more

Find another doctor 3/15/2007

I have been going to Dr. Bray's office for over two years. It is rare to see Dr. Bray, but I don't mind seeing the nurse practioners. That being said, Dr. Bray is much nicer than the nurses and administrative staff in the office. The recent review about ""uneducated Americans"" is about on par with the attitude you'll find at the office. Furthermore, it is very hard to get an appointment the day of - or week of - calling. Perhaps this is the way things are now, which is the main reason why I have not gone searching for another doctor. However, after my experience today, I'm going to be actively looking for someone else. I called in today because I'm pretty sure I have strep (I can see it in the back of my throat) and was immediately transferred to the nurses' line because there are no appointments available today. I left a message and after waiting for one hour, I called again. The woman who answered the phone was extremely annoyed when I told her that I was waiting to hear back from the office. I asked her if it was at all possible if I could just come in for a strep test and she told me that I didn't understand how it worked and that I would have to wait until the afternoon until a nurse would return my call. I usually can handle rude behavior ,especially because I understand that this woman probably takes a million calls like mine each day. But I feel like I have been kicked while I'm already down. I do not feel well, my throat is killing me, I've taken off work and now I feel incredibly helpless while I have to wait for a phone call. On top of it all, if I do have the luck of being able to come in for a test, I dread having to deal with everyone at Dr. Bray's office. Needless to say, I recommend looking for another doctor in the Decatur/Atlanta area if you are currently searching. Best of luck. Pros: The cats in the office are pretty friendly Cons: unfriendly staff, hard to get an appointment, long wait more

Dear uneducated America 3/8/2007

to all of you who have written uneducated comments, a few small facts about Nurse Practitioners. An NP is someone who has gone to school for their master's in nursing. Prior to this education, they received a bachelor's degree in nursing and practiced as an RN for 3-5 years. During their masters programs, they are trained in history taking, reviewing all body systems, assessment, diagnosis, and medications used to treat every disorder that exists. So to the comment that the one NP looked 19... I don't care what she looked like (I'm a NP student who is 23, very educated, own my own home that I bought ALONE, who works hard for my money and knows what I am doing as far as healthcare is concerned). You did not get seen by a 19 year old nursing student. You got seen most likely by an older person who was in school for her masters. And yes, NPs can do just about everything a doctor can do. If we couldn't, the Board of Medicine wouldn't let us!!! And regarding your long wait times... it's a doctor's office for goodness sake!!! You are going to wait at any office you go to. It just goes to show that the practitioners at that office are very liked. And nobody ever just sees a nurse. You are confusing a nurse with a nurse practitioner. NOT THE SAME THING. Educate yourself, and then write comments! more

Don't go! 3/6/2007

I wish I had read these reviews before I went to Dr. Brays practice. I scheduled an appointment with Dr Bray over 6 months n advance. I and ended up seeing a nursing student who looked like she was about 19 years old. I felt totally uncomfortable..not to mention that it took over 2 hours with a lot of waiting in a gown. This seems very innapropriate to me. You would think that an actual Dr. or Nurse would be in the room. They didn't even ask me it it was okay with me to see a student!! Very innapropriate. more

Would Not Even See Me 1/3/2007

I changed over to Dr. Bray for my PCP less than two weeks ago. I call today b/c I am sick and need to see a doctor and they tell me they don't have an available appointment for me. It was going to be over a week until they could fit me in to their schedule. And the only Urgent Care they could refer me to is 45 minutes away. I wish I would have read these reviews before chaning my PCP. For those of you looking to add Dr. Bray, let me suggest you look elsewhere. Cons: Would Not see me as new patient more
