I have to agree with Alice A. My husband had the WORST haircut ever with Diegel. He seems to set the tone lacking in emotional intelligence and runs the place like a prison ward. I have never been to a salon where most of the employees 'cannot stand' the person they work for. As is the case with Diegal. Be careful, this place comes with a lot of arrogant hype! The only good person is the (thankfully) front desk Greg. And Jason a stylist with a heart who wants to do a good job. And he does. I wish Boston Magazine would REALLY research these places before they vote them. This place, is not worth mention in my opinion. It lacks true skill and heart. AND OH, be careful: If you are 10 minutes late, all kind of wrath and havoc prevail! more

Only one who is unusual is DIrk Diegel, and he is tempermental and limited- Vidal Sassoon trained, precision cut all he can do. Dirk keeps getting awards because of the DIRTH of DECENT haircutters in this one horse town. I remember DD when he could only speak German, if he spoke at all. OVERPRICED, assistants and junior stylists run of mill, coloring horrible. MUST HAVE FRIENDS AT BEST OF BOSTON. more

Favorite Haircut Salon on Newbury (so far)! 4/8/2010

Love this salon. Came here almost a year ago, but still remember the great experience. Definitely the best part is the deep scalp massage when they shampoo+condition your hair, plus you're already in a massaging chair (but nothing beats good massaging hands!) My actual haircut was done by Laurie - she was super nice and did a great job listening to what I wanted done with my hair. She also recommended some great products I should use (sulfate free shampoo, girls, that is a must!). The only thing was that I came about 20mins early and she was running about 10-15mins late, so therefore my haircut seemed a bit rushed so that she could take her next customer...But since my haircut turned out great I won't complain too much :) I'd definitely recommend this place for location, look and feel alone. And as far as I've heard all of the stylists are equally amazing. Get to it! Pros: Massaging chairs w/your scalp shampoo+conditioner massage Cons: obviously pricey (it's Newbury St. people) more

Alex is amazing ! 1/12/2010

I receieve Daily Candy and they highlighted a special conditioning treatment offered at Bradley & Diegel Salon. I figured I would give it a try. Alex was my stylist & I was impressed with her immediately. Intelligent ,experienced & kind. She convinced me that I would be happier with the end product of the keratin treatment & she was so right. The best thing I have ever done for my lid . The treatment is amazing. No more flat iron & I could literally let my hair air dry & still looks good . I will do this treatment for the rest of my life. Expensive, oh yeah ,but sometimes you get what you pay for. Alex your the best. I'll see you soon. Pros: A real pro more

Finally, someone who really understands curly hair. 9/29/2009

I'm thrilled to have found someone who listens to what I want on MY head. Maite really knows how to work with curly hair. She can style it naturally in a polished way or blowdry it out as smooth as silk. My cut was beautiful and has lasted much longer than I expected. I loved that I learned more about how to care for my hair and what I was doing wrong. I'm looking forward to my next appointment. Pros: Relaxed atmosphere. Extremely knowledgeable. more

WORST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE 8/2/2009

Based on all the reviews I booked an appointment with Dirk and have never been so sorry in my life. I don't know who the people are giving good reviews. Yes the salon is nice but it doesn't make up for a horrible haircut. I was lectured on how to take care of my hair and given a choppy uneven mess that will take at least 6 months to grow out. I specifically asked that the front not be cut short - I consider cutting off at least 4 inches to my cheekbones short. Please save yourself some misery and go somewhere else. Pros: Nice salon, friendly staff. Cons: Don't listen. Unskilled. more

Great Haircut 6/1/2009

Just love this place. No detail has been overlooked in the execution - from the velcro close robes, the real door dressing room, great magazines, friendly staff, wonderfully long shampoos to the great haircut and color. Its truly an oasis where you step out looking a lot better looking than when you stepped in. Pros: Lovely, relaxed setting and great haircut more

Great short hair cuts! 5/5/2009

I recently decided to get my hair cut short and didn't know where to go. My friend Michelle recommended Maria at Bradley and Diegel and I am forever grateful to her for this. Maria is awesome! She listens to your concerns and is not afraid to let you know if some of your ideas won't work for you. I have received so many complements on my haircut and everyone is asking where I have it done. She's super talented and very professional. Pros: Maria Nieves & massaging shampoo chairs Cons: a bit pricey, but worth every penny more

I followed my stylist here and I absolutely love this salon. All of the staff is great, very friendly and welcoming! Salon is beautiful! It is quieter than some, which is very nice. The chairs when you get your hair washed are massaging chairs! It doesn't get much better than this salon!! Pros: Stylists, massage chairs more

Just writing to say that if you want a great cut that is easy to maintain and amazing color, please see Alex at Bradley and Diegel on Newbury Street.\r \r Alex is an expert in her field. She rescued me from a challenging color situation and I feel like a new person.\r \r The salon is beautiful and everyone who works there is very friendly. If you want to like your hair everyday (and who doesn?t?) head on over to Bradley and Diegel. From what I have seen everyone who works there does a fabulous job and is very nice. Best Salon in Boston 3/10/2009

I followed my stylist, Laurie, to Bradley and Diegel Salon and would probably follow her anywhere but the new salon is wonderful. I received a genuine warm welcoming as I checked in and between the massage chairs and scalp massage I didn't want my shampooing to end! Laurie is a gifted and professional stylist keeping up with the newest cutting and coloring techniques, my hair is always flawless when I leave. I have recommended Laurie to several friends and family who are all now very happy clients of hers. The salon is conveniently located to the Arlington T stop for anyone who doesn't want to deal with trying to find parking on Newbury Street. more

Massage Chairs!!! 2/28/2009

My hairdresser moved salons and I couldn't be more happy about the place she is now. It's very professionally run, calm and full of a really pleasant staff. When I was getting my hair washed the chair was a massage chair!!!!!!!! It was the most relaxing shampoo I have ever had. more

Finally, A Salon with Great Colorist & Stylist! 2/23/2009

I drove from Dighton to come into town and have Maite Lopez from Bradley & Diegel color and cut my hair. This salon is great. Paul gives the best head massage while washing/rinsing your hair. Oh, and the massage chairs work great, which is an added bonus. Maite is truly an artist at work. She gives honest suggestions as to what color would be good for your complexion as well as a hair style/cut that would compliment the shape of your face. She takes her time cutting. You always feel it's just you and her there. I will add that for a Newbury Street salon, this salon is so down to earth and relaxing. I recommend it and recommend Maite in particular. more

Dirk has an outstanding record as the Best Haircutter in Boston, having won this award numerous times before. His skill level and professionalism cannot be matched anywhere in the city. His new salon offers top of the line services in a classy, but unpretentious, setting. The staff is professional, pleasant and welcoming with none of the airs you find at other Newbury Street Salons. Laurie Hamilton is fabulous 2/17/2009

I've been going to Laurie for a little over a year, and she always does a great job. She is extremely patient, yet efficient, and always pays close attention to detail. She will do what it takes to make her clients happy. Laurie is a color perfectionist and will work with you to get the exact color you want. I'm looking forward to seeing her this week! more

Laurie Hamilton is the best hair stylist I have ever been to! 2/13/2009

I am a 52 year old woman who would crawl on glass to have Laurie Hamilton cut and color my hair. She makes me look fabulous, very fresh and modern. \r An anti-aging haircut and color. \r My hair has never looked better, and everybody remarks on the color. It's the same color as my 5 year old granddaughter! \r I have been going to her for over 4 years, and it was the best discovery. Highly recommended. more
