Coming off of Rt 495 onto Rt 111 and needing a caffeine fix and a snack, you might be tempted by the first thing you see -- an Exxon station with a Dunkie's in it. Take my advice and pass it right on by. Up ahead by a quarter mile is Boxborough Liquors & Convenience Store....
One wall is dominated by a long countertop of Baronet coffees and snacks. The coffee is always fresh - everything from flavored to decaf. A few aisles have other great road munchies as well as those "oh shoot I need to pick that up for the house" items. A full cooler in back has soda, milk, juice, every flavor of Gatorade known to mankind... you get the idea.
There is also a US Post Office "substation" here which can handle stamps, letters and parcels.
On the other side of the store is an unexpectedly eclectic and classy wine selection, as well as several shelves of fine liquors -- many of which you don't often see in a small shop like this -- including some VERY well rated single malt Scotch, I spoke with the proprietor briefly, expressing my surprise, to which he replied that his wine racks are stocked by what he hears from his customers; what they liked, what they didn't, and their own recommendations. I noted a wide range of varietals and regions on my last visit.
