Good food, good beer, good prices 11/1/2010

We drove up to Boston for the Knicks/Celtics game on Friday night (29 Oct 10) and were looking for a decent place to eat. About a block from TD Boston Garden we encountered the Beer Works. What a great find! more

Good food anytime 10/11/2008

I enjoy going to Boston Beer Works for lunch or going after work for appetizers, entrees, beer, and pool. The haddock sandwich is delicious and they have excellent fries. The burgers are very good too. They have been great about switching the haddock to salmon when asked and when I add the coleslaw on top for one big sammich (mmm mmm mmm) delicious. They have great beers and is overall a fun place to go. This is an excellent choice when you are not going out for an extremely high-end meal. Pros: Love the food, the service has been outstanding, and a lot of fun Cons: No complaints here more

Boston beer Works 5/13/2008

I really liked Boston Beer Works as the atmosphere is casual yet lively. They have a big bar with many different types of beer. There are two floors and the place is always packed. This is a great place to go before or after a Celtics game or a concert. Located right across from the Green and Orange lines for convenient transportation for those who do not wish do drive into Boston. I thought the food and the service were excellent! more

Rather Cold and Unfriendly 6/18/2007

OK I am from the West Coast and I am used to friencly places, but this place was the worst I found in Boston. We were treated very discourteously and the manager Gary only made matters worse. The food was cold and oversalted. The beer was warmish and tasted like amateurs homebrew. Sorry but there are a lot of other pubs on this street that do better. Pros: near the north station T station Cons: discourteous service and bland food. more

Fantastic Service 3/6/2007

My boyfriend and I visited BBW on Valentine's Day. It was cold and snowy, and we just wanted to get out and defrost. BBW warmed us up right away! Our server was fantastic. We have been to the restaurant many times and enjoy the variety on the menu. We ordered steaks, and when we alerted our waiter that my boyfriend's steak was not cooked to temperature, he apologized, took the plate back, and brought us a new steak--cooked perfectly. The manager stopped by moments later to ensure that we were satisfied, and threw in a complimentary dessert as a gesture of apology. In the end, we had a lovely meal, great beer, and a yummy dessert. We'll be back. Pros: Server is fantastic. We love their steak tips. more

Great beer! 11/15/2006

Boston Beer Works has some of the best food around. The burgers are nice and juicy and they aren't skimpy on the meat. The locations are perfect before and after the games; right across from Fenway and on Canal Street. The crowd varies at each location, but the scene is the same. For larger crowds, the Canal Street is quite big and they have pool tables as an extra bonus if you get bored at your company party. Try the blueberry beer, it's quite different. Pros: Beer, food, good for large crowds and children Cons: Can get pretty loud more

Great Beer and Chili 10/9/2006

This bar has a good selection of microbrews--I had the Back Bay IPA and my husband had the Pumpkinface Ale. We were both pleased. I also ordered a bowl of the chili and it was outstanding! (We also ordered burgers which were a little well-done even though we ordered medium.) more

Beer Works... Works. 12/12/2005

It was every thing I hoped it would be, and more. The many beers (I sampled eight) were all wonderful and masterfully micro brewed. The hambers and frys were fantastic and the over all experience was wonderfull. Pros: Great Food, Wonderful Beers more

Boston Beer Works not a bad place 11/16/2005

I thought the restaurant was OK. The pumpkinhead beer was great and the price wasnt bad (about $4.25 a glass). Food was good also, and you get a good portion size for the price. I felt the service could have been better. The waiter wasn't very attentive and seemed like he didn't care about anything. Pros: Location, Beer!, Food Cons: Service more

Great Place! 9/17/2005

the atmosphere was great, although a lil too loud. Then again, it is to expected on a game night. The beers were great! From Blueberry Ale (basically beer with fresh blueberries) you have to try it! there is also pumpkinhead, which has a touch of cinnamon, and the bambino is nice and light. THe food is also off the chain. if you can, try all the fries there. u will not regret it! Pros: Food, People, Beer! Cons: slow service more

You must get the FRIES! 9/14/2005

The fries here are simply delicious! Always crisp and right out of the fryer. Their seasoned fries are awesome! I was also impressed that they have some decent wines in addition to their beer. Good place to grab a burger and fries but I'd recommend staying away on game nights (fenway location). It gets INSANE. Pros: Fries, Cheap Cons: Crowded, Rowdy People w/ Games more

Kids love it 4/19/2005

I disagree woith your recommendation that it is not a good restaurant for kids. They havea good kids menu and it is my kids' favorite restaurant. We go when there is not an event going on in the Fleetcenter/Garden. The atmosphere is family friendly and the service is fast. When we visit the sister location in the Fenway, we are sure not to bring the kids when there is a ball game scheduled. Parking is tough at both locations even when there is not an event going on. Another alternative is Salem Beer Works. Same menu, same beers, with more parking and not usually crowded. However the service in Salem is not too great. Great Beer, Great food, Kids love it!!! Pros: Kids love it, great beers Cons: parking more

Best of Boston - Beer, Food, Atmosphere 5/13/2004

We attend numerous Fleet Center events and were THRILLED to see another location pop up here. Consistant service matches the EXCELLENT food (both bar food and dinners) and the beer is in a class all by its onesies. Great place to bring friends or just to play pool or hang out. Pros: Excellent Food, Incredible Brews, Eclectic Menu more

Cool place. 6/30/2003

Good location, nice atmosphere. Service was friendly but slow. The food was good, especially the sweet potato fries, but $6 for a smallish basket was no bargain. more

the BEST in boston 8/15/2002

this place is fantastic...great beer, great atmosphere...and the best Nachos in the history of nachos....who else puts steak and chicken on nachos??? Cons: crowded during games more

Best Boston Brews 7/29/2002

The BostonBeer Works has been the best brew pub in Boston since the first day they opened their doors at the Fenway over a decade ago. Tops is their wide selection of beers with new beers being introduced frequently. This is in sharp contrast to other brew pubs whose selection never changes. Their menu is always top notch and the service is always friendly. Pros: Beer selection, Excellent menu, Friendly service Cons: Crowded on game days more

What a blast! 6/13/2002

Amongst the many fun options to eat and drink in the Canal Street and Faneuil Hall area, this is definitely one of the most enjoyable. In summer, its great with the windows (doors?) wide open....the food is fantastic, and the beer is even better - ESP the blueberry beer - which is full of delicious blueberrys! Very fun place... more

A Great Bang for the Buck!!! 6/11/2002

For someone who lives in the North End, I was thrilled when Beer Works opened on Canal St. last April. I've become a regular there and out of all the places on Canal St., I'd much rather go here than anywhere else before or after a Fleet Center event. Terrific food, great beer, outstanding atmosphere, excellent service - it's one of the few places in Boston that ALL of my friends love going to... Pros: Great Value, Great Atmosphere, Excellent Service more
