Horrendous Atmosphere 6/6/2010

On a visit to Atlanta, I visited the Book Nook in Decatur with a few friends. I was immediately struck by how loud and obnoxious the older clerk was. I was in the store more than 30 minutes, and this employee (owner?) spent the entire time ---in a very loud voice--- spewing out his political views that became so annoying and distracting that I put my selections back and my friends and I left the store. Ridiculous political tirades againt President Obama, former President Carter, Vice President Al Gore, against working women in general...on and on. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinions, but it is bad form for a representative of a retail establishment to rail on loudly endlessly about his or her political beliefs no matter what side of the aisle one sits. Pros: Fair selection Cons: Rude, disrespectful employees more

Ultra Maniac 5/27/2007

This book is by Wataru Yoshizumi, its a japanese manga book and i'm only looking for volumes 4 and 5. I's a very good book about a young witch named Nina Sakura and she is from the magic kingdom but she comes to the real world and meets a girl named Ayu. Ayu helps Nina find a personal belonging and they become friends. more

Wonderful Used Bookstore 2/10/2006

Book Nook is a wonderful used bookstore a mile or so east of the Big Chicken. Book Nook also carries videos, dvd's, cd's, and some hard to find collectibles related to comics, tv, movies, and manga. Outside the store are the bargain bargain books, the 25 cent paperbacks and the like. Just inside the door to the store they have a small selection of what is required reading for the schools in the area. On the table to the right are some of the newest books. This store is very inviting for browsing. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable of their stock should there be something in particular you are looking for. Parking is not a problem. more

Good source for used books, cds, videos, dvds 1/10/2006

Atlanta has a shortage of used book stores IMHO. This store has 4 locations that I've visited. The one in Marietta has the best prices, although it seems to be rather unorganized. The only negatives are: 1) the credit you get for trade-ins is minimal and restricted in how you can use it, 2) there is a minimum price on books of $2.40, as I recall, which makes some of the public domain titles comparatively expensive. The store is not as good as McKays in Chattanooga, but is better than anything else in Atlanta that I know of. more

Friendly helpful staff 11/2/2005

The Book Nook is a quaint little shop offering a nice selection of books. Most genres are represented by new reads. Somethng older may need to be special ordered but the staff will bend over backwards to get it for you! Great service makes this bookstore a worthwhile visit. The ambience of the shop itself is very inviting. more
