Bonneville Gift Store 9/15/2009

I've worked at the gift shop for over 6 years, and have loved the experience. Not only is it a great place to find all your favorite items, from Mt. St. Helens jewelry to our special wood carvings, but it's also great for just getting a ""dam"" good cup of coffee. Most gift shops in the middle of a tourist attraction are filled with spoons and shot glasses, but the buyer for the gift shop, Angel Williams, specializes in unique gift items that fit in well with the Columbia Gorge! Even if your just passing through on I-84 stop in, get some coffee, and shop around. And no- Angel is paying me extra to say this. I really do buy a lot of things here myself. Pros: Beautiful location, great employees, great merchandise! Cons: Closed during the winter more

Good Stuff- a great place to stop on your way through the gorge. 2/14/2009

Great place for frappe's and mocha's. Lots of tshirts and trinkets but quite a bit of really nice things too. I like to stop here on my way through the gorge. You can grab a drink and a snack before you tour the hatchery- or grab something for the road. Its a great place to break up the long drive. Pros: Nice quality items- great coffee bar, lots of variety of northwest things Cons: sometimes its extremely busy and crowded. they arent open in the winter. more

A must go place 5/1/2008

I never would have thoguht that a gift shop at a fish hatchery could have been so great. I'll be honest I wasn't expecting much at all when I first showed up, but the minute I walked through the front door of that gift shop my expectations were raised. It has such a great friendly atmoshpere, the clerks were very nice and very helpful. They were very knowledgeable about the are and made one increadible latte. They have great merchandise, they have everything from your typical post cards and shot glasses to great locally made soaps lotions and wooden carvings. Some of the jewlery there is absolutly stunning, they had a cse of jewlery made from Mt. St. Helens ash it was breathtaking. The grounds of the hatchery were very enjoyable as well, Herman the Stergeon is something to see. The gift shop has a great warm feeling and its a place I would definitly like to visit again. If you are ever anywhere in the gorge you simply must visit the fish hatchery. Great people, great service, great souvenirs, and great coffee. Pros: Great coffee, good gifts, nice people, great service Cons: check the weather before you go, it rains a lot more

Unexpected treasures- Northwest artists-great coffee-supports a good cause. 2/5/2008

Ok...so who would think a Gift Shop at a fish hatchery could be so cool? Really. Its not just tourist trinkets, though they have all that too...but they have some of the most beautiful wooden carvings I have ever seen. Just gorgeous. I really like the hand blown glass sturgeon too. Of course they have lots of fishy stuff, but theres lots of unexpected treasures- local artisans jewelry, soaps and lotions, foods- really good marionberry jam! The Mt St Helens ash emeralds are to die for. more
