GOOD AUTHETIC FOOD 2/3/2010

This place has good authetic food. The lamb vandaloo is hot and spicy. You even feel the aroma of the food served in the next table. The tandoori chicken is brought to you while seezling. you dont want to miss that. Nice place keep it up and we will always come back Pros: BEST AUTHETIC FOOD Cons: DIRECTIONS more

GREAT PLACE 2/2/2010

I have widely travelled and this was one of the best food I ate. The atmosphere ambiance are good for romantic or business date. THe place is quiet with lots of room to allow a personal conversation. The service is good and above most restaurants. Good place Pros: BEST CURRY more

Food is Excellent 1/7/2010

I went there 3 times in two weeks. Twice for dinner and once for the buffet. The buffet at Bombay Peacock grill has a lot of different items than I have seen in Indian buffets. Everytime the food was really really good and the service was pleasant. My friends loved the spinach dish and the lamb kabob. My tikka masala was outstanding. They also have a frequent diner card. I will spread the word and keep returning. Pros: Best saag paneer and chicken tikka masala Cons: good directions needed more

Awesome food, great atmosphere 12/21/2009

The food here is awesome. We had tried the buffet once before, but the dinnner was outstanding, specifically the chicken tikka masala, chillie chicken & saag paneer. The staff were friendly (except for one who did not seem to like conversing much). The dining room is pleasing, filled with a lot of artifacts that seem unique to this restaurant.I even like the music, very unique again. Definelty a top notch place! Pros: best chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, good value Cons: a little hidden location more

Bad Idea! 2/16/2009

I have been here several times for the lunch buffet and it was good so I decided to go for Valentine's Day dinner. We had reservations and they seated us on time but it all went downhill from there. We told the waitress that we had a restaurantdotcom certificate and she told us that they were not honoring them for Valentine's day. The restaurantdotcom certificates have several explicit terms printed on them and this was not one of them. Cons: rude, slow service; burnt Naan, didn't honor restaurant dot com certificate more

Poor service, curt waiter 12/29/2008

We went there on a Monday night at 8 PM, so it was not busy at all. The waiter was curt and just seemed like he did not want to be there. My brother remarked that he probably just wanted to go home. The waiter never checked up on us and thus our water never got refilled. I asked the busboy when he was clearing some plates. Pros: Lots of parking Cons: Terrible service more

SPLENDID FOOD 7/27/2008

When you find a great place to eat at you don't wander much. Its so satisfying to be able to go to Bombay Peacock because you know its going to be good food & the place is always so clean & beautiful. So many different selections for the lunch buffet that I could not find elsewhere, and beleve me I have tried several. And the dinner specials are a treat - like the blackened fish. A staple like the samosa is also so uniquely tasty. I simply LOVE THEIR SPLENDID FOOD AND FRIENDLY STAFF. Pros: FOOD, AMBIANCE, PARKING, GOOD VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY Cons: Once in a while service needs to be quicker. more

DISGRACE TO INDIAN RESTAURANTS - WAS SUBJECTED TO VERBAL ABUSE BY RESTAURANT LADY OWNER! 5/27/2008

We visited this restaurant during our baltimore trip this memorial weekend and were shocked with the PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE and VERBAL ABUSE that we were subjected to! Cons: CUSTOMERS SUBJECTED TO VERBAL ABUSE BY LADY OWNER! more

Awesome Buffet 3/14/2008

The first time I went here was on my first date with my boyfriend. I'd always liked Indian, but I tended to stick to buffets, and dishes with chicken. I wanted to be more adventurous, but I was scared. I made my date a promise, that I would eat what he recommended, as long as we also got my old standby, chicken tikka masala. He ordered a dish with lamb, and after I made him promise not to tell mary on me (mary had a little lamb...get it?) i tried it, and the dish was wonderful! Totally not what I was expecting. I was very pleased with everything we had for dinner that night. The restaurant has since become a bi-weekly staple of ours for lunch. It has a great buffet, although it's always a bonus when they have all my faves (whose names i will totally mess up, so i won't even attempt...other than gulab jamon, which is the best dessert)(also, i think it's saag paneer-spinach with chunks of cheese in it....yummy.) It is a little out of the way, especailly considering there are 2 places right next door to each other on snowden, but that fact is also a positive....i've never seen bombay crowded. I will admit that it can sometimes take a little while to get your check, which is not a problem if you can take a long lunch, but it is annoying if you're in a hurry. I don't know the name of the woman that is normally there to seat and check in on you, but she is awesome!!! One day there was no chicken in the chicken tikka masala, and she brought some out to me right from the kitchen. I love that they bring the naan to the table, but it does occasionally take a while to get there. All in all, I love this place, and they also have a frequent diner program, which we've already saved $15 dollars with. Pros: ambience...food...parking Cons: service can be slow at times more

My benchmark for Indian Cuisine in the US 10/17/2007

Best Indian Food east of the Mississippi River! When we retired and moved out of the insane zone around Washington and Baltimore our only major loss was easy access to this restaurant. They compare to the best of their class in London and Paris. The lunch buffet is a fine venue to develop your palate for this cuisine with its variety of textures and flavors. The spicing is piquant but not painful. The owner is usually on site which insures good service and a reliable kitchen. We always make it a point to visit whenever we are within 100 miles of their Columbia location. Pros: Masterful kitchen and an owner on site almost always. Cons: Can be noisy when large families with children are dining. more

Mediocre Food 10/16/2007

Ive had Indian food in several countries, including India itself. The food here is at best, sub-par but what makes it even more horrible are the waitstaff and service. Poor eating experience overall. The average rating of 4 stars was highly misleading! My suggestion : try somewhere else, this chain is - not recommended. Cons: Food quality and service more

Horrible! I'll never go back, and neither should you! 10/11/2007

I flew in to meet some friends awhile back, and we decided to try this place, it's absolutely horrible. First, these extremely rude hosts lost my reservation, so we had to wait with a large party for a table. Not fun. After the longer than usual wait, they joined a BOOTH and a TABLE for us, and refused to get us 2 tables together, which obviously would make a bit more sense. The service was possibly the slowest I've ever received in my entire life. I waited for the naan (bread), for a good hour AFTER the food arrived. I swear, I think the flight into Baltimore took less time than the waiters bringing my bread. After the long wait for food, you'd think, okay, it'd be worth it if the food was good, right? WRONG. The food was sub-par, even though they disguise themselves as good, authentic and traditional Indian food. I honestly would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. If it was eat here or starve, I think I'd just die happy. The only reason I gave it 1 star, is because that's as low as you can rate it. This place is straight up garbage. The most precise word in the English language for this restaurant: Garbage. Cons: Terrible service, terrible food, terrible staff. more

Decent Food, Intolerably slow staff and Extremely poor service 10/9/2007

While Im not one to write reviews, I felt compelled to write this one because I read the reviews for this restaurant and booked it and had the MOST disappointing experience. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. The food is quite decent, even though the portions are small. The biggest let down was the serice. We were a group of ten, and had about 5 waiters serve us. The waiter who brought us drinks only asked 3 of the table and left and it took over 10 minutes to come back and bring other people their drinks. The waiters that brought the food, brought the bread (naan) about ten minutesafter the food and when we asked for some hot suace while eating, we were told "" the kitchen is busy, we shall see what we can do"". Hot sauce ( which comes in a bottle?) never came. The waiters were rude most rude being the maitre'd. And being caucasian, I can openly say, that you are likely to get treated better if you are of similar skin tone. Pros: Decent tasting food Cons: Service, Small Portions, Not good for Kids or Groups more

BEST indian buffet with great selection 5/27/2007

So, I had been hearing about the Bombay Peacock Grill for quite sometime now. I usually go to Akbar's or House of India and have even ventured out to the Bombay Gaylord in Silver Spring because I simply love Indian Food. Well, this weekend, a cousin and her friend were in the area so I decided to give it a try. It is a little tucked away but wow! What a gem. The host is attentive, friendly and made us feel so welcome. They offer a lunch buffet 7 days a week which was great because I could try different things on the menu! The food was so good: Served hot, not need to add salt or pepper or anythings which is my indication that the food is not up to par. Nan was hot and brought to our table, the staff kept our glasses/drink orders filled. It was just great! This is my new found spot. I love it! more

By far the best Indian restaurant in the area 5/17/2007

Went there on a busy Sunday night. Despite that, the food was timely and FANTASTIC. One could taste the fresh wholesomeness of the dishes. The butter chicken was full of subtle spices and the lamb saag was the best I have ever had. We specially liked how the service was friendly but not overly so.Definetly one of our top favorites!! Pros: food, service, ambiance Cons: need directions to get there. more
