BEST BENEDICT! 1/13/2009

Its hard to find a place on the Eastside that serves an affordable brunch where you dont have to wait two hours for a table. We are having our kitchen remodeled, so we've been eating out much more than normal, and decided to give this place a try since its right down the hill from our condo. When we got there for brunch it was crowded, but we were seated within just a few minutes in a nice big booth by the window. This place has a great view of the marina and Lake Washington. I had the crab benedict, and my daughter had the french toast, both were wonderful! Our server was polite and friendly, and i thought the restaurant itself was quite pretty. We got out of there in under an hour, and didn't spend an arm and a leg. great find, we'll be back! more

Great spot in Carillon Point! 1/5/2009

I work around the corner at the Starbucks from this "new" bluwater (new to us here on the eastside at least). Soup, salad and bread are enough for a light lunch, and the dinner portions are HUGE but watch out for dessert! The Tollhouse Magic really is magical! they serve brunch on the weekends until 4, which is great for late risers like myself, and the waffles are perfect. Wish i made more money so i could eat here everyday! more

Great View, Friendly Service make a winning combo 12/28/2008

We dined here to try something different and I was pleasantly surprised by the food as well as the ambience. . The view is great especially at sunset and the food has been awesome (especially the crab mac and cheese and salads). Drinks are good and service has always been friendly. Personally I don't really worry about "fast service" when I'm dining unless I'm trying to catch a movie or something, but the last time we went here we were in a rush and they totally accommodated us, and even helped choose items that wouldnt take forever. Wait for a table can be a bit at peak times in the summer. I would recommend going here, especially in the spring or summer since they have outdoor seating when its nice. more

Amazing service 8/11/2008

My husband and recently went to the Kirkland Bluewater and left knowing we would be back. As soon as we walked in the door we were warmly welcomed and seated right away. It seemed like as soon as we sat down we were greeted and brought bread and water. Our server recommended a great wine that went well with our steaks, which were cooked perfectly. Through out the whole time we were there our server was very friendly and made sure all our needs were taken care of. All and all it made for a great date night. Pros: Everything more

BluWater left me feeling Blue 5/10/2008

After being seated, we waited 5 minutes before a server brought ice water and menus. The radio was way too loud so it seemed everyone was shouting, making booth conversation a struggle. Coupled with poor lighting and ugly wood paneling on everything, not even the pretty view of the water could redeem the bad atmosphere. The food was overpriced. Describing its preparation as mediocre is being generous. It came out of the kitchen fast. "Can I get you anything else?" the server inquired after serving the plates. "Yes. Silverware please." I had the Almond Encrusted Alaskan Halibut - served atop new potatoes and spicy vegetable ragout. I also had a solid minute to examine it while the server ran for the forgotten silver. The fish was mush, sitting in a 1/4" pool of oil, it was smothered in what tasted like butter and sour cream and then shingled with slices of burnt almonds. It was a plate of indiscernible flavors and bad texture. I would complain that the portion of halibut (for $26.50) was small; but I couldn't stomach another uninteresting bite. Nor could I wash the bad taste from my mouth as my water glass sat empty, the entire meal. I couldn't get out of that place fast enough. After handing over the credit card, we waited 10 minutes to sign our receipt and leave. If you dine here, you're paying for their expensive waterfront lease and certainly not getting good food or service out of the deal. I will not be going back. Pros: The waitress smiled at us Cons: Food, Price, Service, Atmosphere, Pay to Park more

A friend of mine suggested meeting there, and I hadn't been there since it was the old Cucina Cucina. I was pleasantly surprised at what they've done to the place- they got rid of the corporate-chain feeling, and it's warm and inviting. And I'd forgotten how great the view is. We had cocktails and appetizers (they make a great spicy bloody mary), and the server was really helpful in giving suggestions and recommending her favorite dishes. The calamari steak was amazing, and I also loved the sauteed prawns. We were happy with everything we ordered. The server took great care of us, and I'll definitely be back for cocktails and snacks there the next time I'm on the Eastside. Pros: Atmosphere, service, varied menu more

Drinks are horrible @ BluWater in Kirkland 7/12/2007

I've been to BluWater in Kirkland twice and both times my drinks were extremely weak. The first time I came with a group of 5; each of us ordered a drink and out of 5 drinks 3 tasted like water! I went there last night again (not my idea) and the same thing happened! Our drinks were absolutely horrible. I'm not an alcoholic, but c'mon... i need to taste at least a little bit of alcohol!!! Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Plus, I'm not the only one who thinks the same. My friends and co-workers were not impressed with this place either. more

DO NOT HAVE A PRIVATE EVENT HERE 7/8/2007

I planned a brunch here for the day after our wedding, and have been mislead from the beginning about the number of guests the room can accomodate and the restaurant's flexibility with guest count. I chose the BluWater because they had a private room with seating for 50, and they assured me they would be flexible as far as the guest count went. Their private dining "coordinator" said that it wasn't a big deal if a lot of extra people showed up, that they were "a restaurant, and it's no big deal to put in another order for scrambled eggs". Now 4 days before the wedding, she is requiring an accurate count and informed that in fact the room can only accomodate 42 people. When I mentioned the conversations we had when I originally booked regarding the guest count and room capacity, I was told "I don't have it written down that I told you these things." WOW, that's such great service and exactly what I need right before the biggest day of my life. THANKS BLUWATER!! more

My friend and I went there for our monthly girl's night out. Despite another friend has already been there and didn't like it we thought let's make up our own mind. Well, we got seated outside very quickly. The front desk staff was very friendly. The menu didn't really catch our eye. It took us long to make a decision and finally we just went with a salad. It took actually an hour to get our food but the management appologized to us with a free drink which I thought was a nice gesture. Our salads tasted ok - we had better ones before. Our waitress was a little slow and serious. If you look for a restaurant after a bike tour or during the day this restaurant might be the place but I wouldn't go there for a special occasion or a nice dinner again. Pros: location, parking Cons: menu, average food more

If you want staples in your food eat here! 5/19/2007

DON"T GO HERE YOU WILL GET BAD SERVICE AND STAPLES IN YOUR FOOD!!!! I will NEVER eat at this restuarant again. We sat down for happy hour and ordered 5 beers and 3 appetizers. At happy hour this totals only 20 dollars. After eating all of the appetizers one of the members of our party said that he had something in his mouth, he pulled it out and it was a STAPLE!!!!! Not just a paper staple but one of those staples that come on a package of sausage that are used in restaurants. It was absolutely disgusting! It took us talking to the bus boy then the waitress twice to get the manager over to speak with us. We deserved an explaination of how a staple got in our food becuase it could have been very harmful if it had been swallowed. The manager came over and was a completely arrogant.. He spoke to us like we were five year old children. Then finally said he would take care of the bill, nice buddy the bill is only 20 dollars!!!! Someone almost swallowed a huge staple! What a joke this place is. We went back about two months later with some friends that really wanted to go and thought we would give it another chance, well let's just say we were wrong. We sat outside and it was filthy! We had to ask for things two or three times it was awful but at least we didn't get a staple in our food. NEVER AGAIN!!!! THIS RESTAURANT IS SO AWFUL!!!! Go next door to the resaurants at the Woodmark Hotel!!!! more

perfect place for great food and service on the eastside! 1/8/2007

When we first walked into the new Bluwater in Kirkland, I couldn't believe it was the same place Cucina Cucina had been just two months before. This place looks amazing! Huge bay windows with views of the marina and Lake Washington, big comfy booths, and a lively bar. Our food was fantastic (love the stuffed pork chop, and my friend had the crab macaroni and cheese, perfect), the person who waited on us was friendly and was helpful in suggesting a wine that went with both of our entrees... Just had a wonderful time overall, and was pleasantly surprised when we received the bill, by far the LEAST expensive meal I've ever had in Kirkland. I will most definetly be back. Pros: wonderful location, beautiful view, plus great food. Cons: only con I can think of is how packed this place is going to be in the summer! more
