Beautified our yard 8/11/2020

Nick and his crew totally beautified our yard. They put in a new lawn, corrected our faulty sprinkler system and put in new indirect lighting. They are very knowledgeable and gave great guidance on how to maintain our yard in the future. I totally recommend this nursery and their crew and wouldn't go anywhere else. more

Great local nursery, will visit again 5/9/2010

We just came back from a trip to Blodgett's Nursery. Being a Northern transplant to Florida myself, everything I thought I knew about gardening does not apply. Not only did they answer all of our questions about the two fruit trees that we purchased, including how to care for them in containers vs planting in the ground, suggested the right fertilizer as well. We also asked about our small water garden and solutions to our problems. I was surprised that they encouraged us to solve the problems with them pond, and actually recommended not putting any aquatic plants in the pond until we had the conditions under controll and made recommendations. (at the larger chain stores, the employees are not at all knowledgeable in this area) In addition, the guy that helped us, Mike, was super nice, loaded our car for us and gave us a free item. It was as good as all the reviews I read. We'll be going back soon. also easy to find, located not too far from I4 that even non-florida-natives can easily find. Two thumbs up! more

Great Service at Blodgetts 12/4/2008

We recently visited Blodgett Gardens and were surprised to find such an old-time plant nursery with everything you could imagine in stock from plants, wrought iron, and the biggest selection of fountains and pots I have ever seen.We knew we were in the right spot when Tom, their pottery expert, greeted us.One of the nicest things is engraved in the concrete driveway:their grandfather's name, who started the nursery in 1936.Just so you know, Blodgett's is still doing things right! It looks good. more

Great Irrigation Specialists 12/3/2008

I thought we had an irrigation problem so I called Mike Blodgett. He found the problem and fixed it. As he was leaving he said, do you know why your turf looks so bad? I assumed it was because I had the problem with my irrigation system. He said, no ma'am, you have chinch bugs. I didn't understand how you get chinch bugs from a broken sprinkler.Mike said its easy and that we had created just the right conditions for the critters to grow. He gave me Fertilome Kill a Bug and it worked great!Sincerely Brandy more

Roses 12/3/2008

We have bought several plants from Blodgett Gardens and they seem to do better in our landscape. Georgina and Fran from Blodgett's have been very helpful with the roses and they have a secret for thrip which is cygon and dysyston. more

We recently visited Blodgett Gardens because we wanted to make our backyard more appealing. We went there thinking we were going to buy a Ligustrum tree for the corner. After looking around, Mike suggested we look at several options. We started with the Ligustrum, then he showed us a Maho, a Lakeview Jasmine, a rose and so many different types of trees I lost track. Then he showed us the new gift items and that's when we found the new outdoor paintings available. What a great addition! Thanks Blodgett Gardens! more

Quality of service has declined 8/20/2005

We originally visited Blodgetts upon returning to Orlando several years ago. Initially, we were impressed by the wide selection of plants, but even more so, we were impressed by the knowledgable helpful staff, who seemed like true experts about gardening. For a variety of reasons, we did not do much gardening for a period of time, and only recently were able to garden again - we immediately thought of Blodgetts when needing plants & supplies. Much to our dismay, this nursery is no longer the top-notch place it used to be. While there is still quite a nice selection of plants, the staff we encountered on our last 2 visits did not seem to know very much about gardening at all, and seemed as if they were simply "salesman" - pushing to sell us something as much as possible, without really knowing any significant amount about the merchandise they were selling. Disappointing that this is no longer as high-quality a nursery as it used to be. more
