HORRIBLE! This bar used to be okay during games, but it has gone downhill over the last 6 months. Now servers are rude and slow, the managers start arguments and fights with customers, and they play loud music while you are trying to watch sports. We will never go back again.. there are too many other great Sports bars in Lodo! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/9/2012

Had a very disappointing visit to the Blake Street Tavern. We wanted to share our feedback with the manager and the waitresses got together and had one other girl from another section of the place pretend to be the manager. (We know the bald guy is the manager, by the way, we saw and talked with him earlier.) The service is slow even when there are hardly any people in the place. The food is horrible. The vegetables had holes in them and the cooking staff did not even try to remove the wilting parts or the black mold on the carrots. SO gross. In addition, the ""Blake Street Tavern Nachos"" had fake cheese underneath the 'real cheese' - so disgusting. NEVER GO THERE. more

This is mostly a great place to eat, 2/23/2012

This is mostly a great place to eat, however service can be very bad during busy events. Came here to eat before an afternoon Rockies game and the service was very slow. However, most nights the food is good and service the same. If very busy during the day...you may want to look at other options in Lodo. more

BAD SERVICE/MGR Staff.. 10/27/2010

Went in for lunch and a couple drinks with friends and had a terrible experience. Unfriendly server, with an awful attitude, undoubtedly due to the bigger bald man who was waddleing around the place pointing fingers at an empty clean table and yelling with no regard for the patrons. The young hostesses looked like she was about to cry with tears in her eyes and the other girls had to console her. It made us and the other tables around very uncomfortable and decided to box up our lunch and head to walnut room. There seemed to be way too much drama and a lot of tension that made us very uncomfortable. skip this place! more

nice place jerk off manager 10/15/2010

We were enjoying our meals & a few drinks when this bald guy, who I later found out to be the manager, began belittling one of his female servers/hostesses. He was dropping f-bombs etc as he ranted, his little head turning red. Many customers witnessed this & for us it wasnt the first time we had seen him do it. He did it after a Rockies game a month or so ago. The place is very nice & the food ok, but we wont EVER go back. This man has a ego problem & absolutely 0 respect for his staff. He's lucky that girls' father wasnt around or .................. more

Blake Street Tavern's New Location is Better than ever 7/30/2010

I have been going to Blake Street Tavern for many years, and have recently been to their new spot (1 block away from the original) and it's even better than before! The service is good and the food is yummy -- I especially like the Buffalo Chicken wrap, and instead of fries, I get it with the salad, which is an exceptional side salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, onion and carrots (this isn't your typical iceberg salad!) - plus the homemade dressings are all very good. And the new location is nice, much bigger, yet still cozy, plus they have a great patio facing Coors field and the mountain range -- perfect for an evening cocktail. I highly recommend Blake Street for good good and a nice, cozy (or outdoor patio) atmosphere. Pros: Great new location, lots of parking, great food more

The New Blake Street Tavern 7/30/2010

Let me tell you guys, the New Blake Street Tavern is awesome!! The owner, Chris and his talented staff spared no expense in rebuilding the old Poly Esters space into the coolest Sport Tavern in town! No wonder they win so many awards. The great mountain view patio faces Coors field (one block north of the field) and has the best mountain views. The food is delicious with specials from Chef Ernesto that will make you come back over and over again. GREAT party room, The Tailgate Room seats about 150 people, and there is a Board Room for a private party of 20 or so. When you walk in, the high vaulted ceilings, the large tables for groups of 8 or so...the cute staff and of course, all the major sports on HD TV's....will make you want to come back over and over again. What I like most...is that you feel like family at Blake Street Tavern. Pros: Huge new space, great food, friendly staff more

Horrible environment 3/2/2010

The same thing happened to us as the below reviewer, which was a manager was following a waitress around screaming at her. His bald head was red/purple with rage and, let me tell you, it was NOT a pretty sight. We felt bad for the staff, who seemed glum. I will take my business elsewhere next time, I don't want to give my money to a man who treats his staff like that. Ps. They tried to seat us in the ""tailgate room"", a large empty concrete wearhouse that smelled like sewage and old beer, with cheap plastic tablecloths and filth everywhere. Unbelievable. Fortunately we resisted. Pros: good beer Cons: abusive manager, ""tailgate room"" menu is nothing special more

Terrible Experience 3/1/2010

Although I had a great meal and awesome service, I couldn't recommend Blake Street Tavern. My experience a couple weeks ago was completely ruined when I witnessed a man--presumably a manager--treating his staff like f----ing dogs. I don't know how my server kept a smile on her face after this d-bag screamed at her and her co-workers in front of a bunch of customers. My wife and I were embarassed for everyone and quite frankly lost our appetite. Don't go here unless you want to witness verbal abuse. Pros: Good Service, Great Food Cons: Management more

Great food, better beer, awesome nachos 7/10/2009

While the menu consists mostly of sandwiches and other bar fare, that's no reason to avoid the Blake Street Tavern. Situated in the up-and-coming ""NoDo"" area, they're next door to the former Flying Dog Brewery. From the Buffalo Chicken sandwich to the cheesesteak to the Prime Rib special, everything on the menu is worth eating. Make sure to try the nachos; they are some of the best in Denver and the portions are just absurd -- bring friends. The beer is also fantastic; mostly Flying Dog, though they offer some other fare. Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey is also available and everything is served by a friendly, knowledgeable bar staff that rivals some of the better places in Denver. They're worth getting to know. The back rooms are also great and they manage to create a sports-bar-like atmosphere, without the douchebaggery, and still come off like a great neighborhood bar. If you're in the area, it's a great place to get a bite to eat. Pros: Flying Dog beer, great food, not in LoDo Cons: Parking can be rough, limited menu more

Awesome food & drink after a Rockies game. 5/19/2009

This is a great place to chill at after a Rockies game. The beer is great tasting, great for watching sports with their huge screens, and the staff is very nice. more

Great Beer 2/13/2009

This place had the best beer ever and I loved it. You can never get enough of this place, I would like to come back and eat here every week. more

Rude! 1/4/2009

They had broken glass all over the dance floor, their employees laughed at my bleeding foot and told me not to wear open toed shoes. I had to ask the manager to get a band-aid. Also, I was screamed at last call telling me that I couldn't use the bathroom before leaving. Awful place, rude employees. Don't go there. Cons: Service more

just a plain ole tavern 12/16/2008

Slightly hip crowd for a tavern. Not too large of a crowd on dinner hours, drinks were reasonable. Not a favorite spot but one of comfort. Pros: decent drinks, decent food Cons: just simply decent drinks, decent food. more

Not a place for Broncos fans 12/15/2008

Went on a Sunday to watch a Bronco game with some friends that wanted to watch another team play. They could see their game fine but the only tv with the Broncos on was way across the room. The hostesses and bartenders were rude (to put it mildly) and non-accomodating. I was told that the owner ""makes Broncos fans sit in the back"". I respect bars that accomodate fans of other teams, but don't treat your local Broncos fans like crap...we're the ones keeping your business going the rest of the year! more

Great place for Rockies pre and post game hangout 10/16/2007

The Food here is great, the staff is accomodating, and the service is really good. You can watch any game you want to at this place, just request it they probably have it! Pros: Flying Dog everywhere! Cons: Dirty bathrooms more

Good food, very friendly staff! 3/23/2007

The Blake Street Tavern was recommended to me by my hotel as a fun place to go with good food. I was there on St. Patrick's Day. I enjoyed the food and the staff was very friendly, helpful, and personable. Next time I'm in Denver, I'll definitely return! more

Great service, delicious pub fare 1/20/2007

The serivce staff is great, the burgers are second to none, and the Flying Dog brew is the freshest in the city (it's brewed next door). Pros: Burger, Flying Dog, Trivia Cons: Parking, Occasionally Loud Sports more

Before and after a game 11/20/2006

This is good place that's just far enough away from Lodo that you don't have to have that ""Dressed for a hook up"" look. This is a bar, with great beer, good food and if you speak nicely to the bartender, she may give you a small taste of Stranahan's, the only whiskey made in Colorado. BTW, the whiskey is made next door. Pull up a barstool, order yourself an ""Old Scratch"", have a snifter of Stranahan's, some nachos, lively conversation and you'll know what this neighborhood bar is all about. Pros: Freshest Flying Dog around more

Always good 10/10/2006

This is one of my favorite places to go. I love the food and the service has always been great. The croud is usually fun and the restroom has more than one stall! They have drink specials, a pool table and a dart board. Pros: Food, service and atmosphere Cons: parking can be a challenge more
