Never again!
I live in Manhattan and am just getting over a knee operation so after discovering that Bird carried the brand I wanted, I called to make sure they still had the brand in the store and had my size. Called their other store first and was referred to Smith Street. Called them and had a long, long conversation on a Saturday evening with salesperson telling me exactly what garments were in my size.
Next day, I'm there as soon as the store opens. (After taking three subways.) Go through the rack, not a single garment in my size. Ask the salesgirl there and she gives me the standard ""all our sizes are out."" I tell her that I was told differently last evening.
She says, well, things sell out quickly.
Hmmm... magically all those garments were sold overnight when the store was closed!
Practically at gunpoint, I urge to check the inventory. Suddenly she finds a list of garments in my size--although it's completely different than what I heard on the phone the night before. OK, so that's a new story, were you just too lazy to look the first time?
But OK, here's what I really loved the best: When not one but two Bird salesgirls asked me for the name of the person I'd spoken to the night before (so either they don't know who answers the phone at Smith Street or they think that their customers bizarrely make these things up just to make them miserable.)
Pros: Brand selection is pricey
Cons: Spacey, lazy salespeople
