Birch Hill is wonderful. 11/16/2011

I cannot tell you all how helpful you have been to me this past year. I have been crazy busy going in and out of town, taking care of a sick parent and getting ready for a wedding! Needless to say, my dog Sam has been to Birch Hill far more often then I would normally like, but I know he is in good hands and not alone when he is with you all. Thanks for taking care of him and keeping him company in my absence! more

I am always greeted by the very friendly and comforting staff. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and it actually smells really nice! Our pets were happy to see us, but were tired too which I love- makes unpacking that much easier. more

thoroughly answered all of our questions 10/26/2011

A few months ago, we came to Birch Kennel to help with my roommate's two puppies, Bing and Boomer. They are awesome! The technician sat with us and asked about the puppies, what type of issues they were having and what we were hoping to accomplish. We really appreciate that the training was free, as he was with us and the pups for almost three hours. He really cares about helping you and your dogs out. He has a very relaxed style, which we really appreciated since our puppies are very timid. By the time we left, he had provided us with a ton of useful information, some great tips and had the puppies doing a couple tricks! He also thoroughly answered all of our questions. Thank you so much! more

If you love your dogs STAY AWAY 12/31/2010

I had to leave my pure breed dogs here to go out of state for a funeral. When I called and spoke to them I told them I had large dogs and need a big kennel where they could go in and out. I wrote out instructions brought my dogs food, (all premeasured) as well as their dishes. When I droped them off they put them in this tiny kennel where they couldn't even move, I said that isn't big enough and she assured me that she was getting their kennel ready (again I had no choice but to leave them I had to leave for a funeral) It took me 45 minutes to check them in... (that alone was ridiculous) I left not feeling great about leaving them... \r I called the next morning and found out my dogs were STILL in a small kennel and demanded they be moved ASAP, I called several times to check on them and each time I was told that my dogs were great, and they were having fun playing with them, they had gone in the kennel to sit with them (they are really friendly) \r \r When my husband and I picked the more

My 2 great danes are my world. I do not have children so they are my babies. I have used this place as my daycare for a couple years and have nothing but good things to say about them. The owners and employees are friendly, caring, and dependable people. They have a vast knowledge of animals and training. While my dogs are there during the day they are feed, given treats, played with, trained, and even had quiet time for a nap (which great danes need as they are prone to bloat). When i pick them up the owner comes over to talk to me and tell me about thier day. Of course my babies are happy to see me and act like i left them forever but they usually settle down and sleep for awhile so i know they have been played with a lot because they are full of energy normally. I trust this place with the most precious things in my life and i recommend it to anyone for daycare. I dont know about overnight as i have never left them any where that long. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! 3/25/2008

I brought my 2 dogs here on two seperate occasions and both times I was very dissatisfied. I gave them printed instructions on their feeding times. On one 5 day stay I brought 5 cans of their food and their special treats. When I picked them up there were 4 cans not opened and all their treats were still in their bag. It was Thanksgiving and it was clear that they were totally forgotten and were extremely stressed when I picked them up. Against my better judgement I dicided to give this place another chance....bad decision. They charged me $20 per day to brush them and was never given a price and THEY WERE MATTED WHEN I PICKED THEM UP! I sent them with a very expensive bedding ($55) and was told that they don't have it and didn't recall my bringing it in. Obviously they either wanted to keep it or gave it to someone else. Either way I never got their bedding back and it cost me an extra $175!!! Needless to say my dogs were very happy to see me and I will never take them there again. more

Not a place I'd visit again 9/20/2005

Maybe it was the weekend I brought one of my dogs there, but I couldn't get over the smell when I walked in. It had been very humid so I thought it was the weather because I smelled things that I didn't usually smell even at my home. They weren't mean, but they weren't very friendly either. I noticed that when I picked up my dog the person had a spray bottle with them and actually sprayed my dog with a deodorizer before bringing him out. I was not impressed at all and wouldn't board again there. more

Not my favorite kennel 9/3/2005

I have used this business for dog grooming only and honestly I would not feel right having my dog spend the night at the kennel. I haven't heard anyhting bad about the place, I just didn't get a feeling that the owner really cared about my dog when I brought her there for grooming. The person I dealt with was very gruff with my dog and even though my dog normally loves everyone wanted nothing to do with this person. It was hard to leave my dog there for her grooming. We haven't been back since. more
