Absolutely the worst scenario imaginable 5/27/2021

Absolutely horrible experience here; my little brother tried to donate plasma here and each time he went in, waited about an hour while they asked more questions, only to be sent away at the last second; the first time they were upset that his birth name was different from legal name (he had brought in several different documents to prove his identity but they were still unsatisfied- also it took them an HOUR of waiting before they noticed the name issues?? He filled out a ton of other paperwork and waited a long time only to be sent away, and it wasn’t like they had just noticed the issue they complained to him from the beginning about the name thing they noticed right away and waited an hour to do anything about it) The second incident was by far the most insulting; he went in with the new paper work, filled out more, waited another hour only to be sent away again, this time flat out just because my brother is trans. Keep in mind- he has been on testosterone for 3 YEARS now, he very much looks and sounds conventionally masculine (not that it should matter) basically the only thing conventionally feminine about him at this point is what’s down under, and yet THE ENTIRE TIME throughout BOTH of these trips to try and donate blood he was referred to by his dead name and incorrect pronouns- they were incredibly disrespectful, clearly never intending to allow him to give blood and yet they made him spend HOURS over this ordeal, coming in TWICE, until they finally just gave him the real reason why they had been giving us a hard time. One of the doctors there straight up looked him in the eyes and said, “when a female starts taking testosterone, it messes with her head...” IM NOT KIDDING, THATS THE REASON SHE GAVE FOR SENDING US AWAY, AFTER TWO VISITS, AND MANY HOURS OF WAITING, AFTER HE WAS TRYING TO DONATE BLOOD, THIS IS HOW HE WAS TREATED. Absolutely the most horrendous abysmal service I’ve ever seen, I’m absolutely infuriated my brother had to go through all of this. This practice should be ashamed of not only their poor customer service but also their just complete lack of knowledge of human anatomy. Don’t bother yourselves with this pseudoscience barf stain of a clinic, if you want to donate blood literally anywhere else would be better. more

Bio-Life Plasma Center 8/7/2006

This is a plasma donation center. If you have never done a plasma donation, the thought is much more daunting than the actual procedure. It's actually very relaxing, and you can read & listen to music while you donate. Part of the procedure to donate plasma is to get a full physical first, to determine if you are eligible to donate. There are strict guidelines, in order to keep unhealthy or potentially contaminated plasma out of the national supply. The business itself pays for your donations, and the building is new and clean. They even offer free child care during limited hours, to help provide the service to those who have children at home still. The only thing I found wrong with them was the service they use for testing your blood for the physical. My blood was tested positive for something which would automatically exclude me from eligibility. Because I tested positive for it under a generalized test, they gave my blood sample a specific test for that, and found I do not have it. However, by that point, they had already excluded me from eligibility, even though I did NOT have any problems. What bothers me more, however, is that becuase of thier messed up test, I am now on a national "Do Not Donate" list, which includes not just plasma, but also blood, and organs. Because of one messed up test at their center, my whole life is effected. They also told me at the time that with further testing, I can be placed on a list to allow organ donations, but not blood or plasma. I am on that list for life now. more
