Bing Maloney is a 60+ year old golf course that opened in 1952. You'll find the course to be forgiving with bad shots and uplifting with decent shots. I'm especially fond of the course because it offers multiple dogleg fairways with obstacles (trees & bunkers) strategically placed to humble even the best player. For example, in the 12th hole a humongous tree sits dead center blocking the obvious center shot off the tee. Players are forced to squeeze between a small channel of trees, balloon their shot over the tree, play it safe to the right of the tree (a much longer second shot), OR (what I did) shoot straight at the tree and cross your fingers. The creativity presented by Michael "Mac" McDonaugh, the designer, makes Bing Maloney a joy to play. I enjoyed my round and plan to return.
Please note that a couple of holes play double duty by guiding air-crafts of a local. It's always smart to keep an eye out for these armature pilots, which have been known to crash (http://goo.gl/APIyoY).
