Great Experience 2/20/2010

Went with my husband, who is a VERY picky eater, however he was a good sport and tried numerous of the tapas style dishes they offer and he loved 90% of them! The dishes are always so creative and delicious! Try the Tomato Bisque. (Not usually a fan, but Bin's is wonderful!). A little pricey - but definitely worth it! The server was also very professional, attentive to a pleasent extent. Its also a great place for an office lunch/dinner party or gathering. Pros: Awesome variety/creativity more

Food hit/miss, waiter questionable 11/13/2009

My guest and I had dinner the other night and besides the cod, everything was great. The cod was really nasty. The winelist is great. Our server, upon walking up to our table and hearing us talk of NIOSA, said ""Oh yeah, Niosa is great. Who doesn't like fondling and rape?"" I have waited tables for thirteen years and have NEVER heard anything that inappropriate being said by the staff to the customer. I am not calling the restaurant on this person because it would probably get them fired, but I am not making this up. It was really disturbing. The rest of the experience was good, but I would never want that person to wait on me again. And just for the record, we gave them over a 20% tip. Great food, bad service, but I believe that the rest of the servers are great, we just didn't get the right one. Pros: Grilled chevre sandwiches blew my mind Cons: The cod was bland like cafeteria food, service shaky more

Fantastic experience, best food in San Antonio 11/26/2008

Me and a friend found this place, visiting San Antonio, and it was perfect. The outdoor space looks really nice, the indoors is trendy. The food was Amazing!!!! I recommend to try the Serrano Wrapped Dates with Cabrales Blue Cheese, and the Seared Diver Scallop with Dried Spanish Chorizo. Pros: Amazing food, great prices Cons: Not located in the river walk more

Delish and affordable 7/27/2008

My husband and I went to Bin 555 on a Saturday night for something different, upscale and quiet. We each ordered the red wine flight so that we could each have our own glass to taste. The $16 was very reasonable and worth it to be able to taste 5 wines.\r \r During the evening, we ordered the brie, flat bread, squash with mint and the pommes frites. \r \r We sat outside, which had an interesting view of artisans alley.\r \r The 2 wine flights and the food we shared came to a $50 tab. We left having tasted good wine, with delish food in a nice atmosphere. Pros: Food Cons: seating, call ahead or come early - we sat outsided b/c inside was full more

Food can be great and innovative, service a bit slow! 4/14/2008

I used to really like this restaurant. The menu has always stood apart from the majority of those in this City, with innovative tastes, concepts and presentation!\r The service however has always been slow and is considerably worse over the lunch period!\r We have had many visits where the food has more than made up for the lack of service...the Shrimp Bisque with curried sour cream is a must - especially when paired with the wood fired naan, the seafood selections are just wonderful, check out their great cheese plate which you can pair with the more than ample wine list! we have enjoyed their ""tapas' style servings (note: it is more the serving style than the content that renders these tapas) that we have frequently not ventured on to the entrees...but on the occasions we have, they are impressive!\r However, my most recent visit has not left me wanting to return in a hurry...the usual slow lunchtime service was worse, there was a lack of silverwear, and what was available was clearly not all clean - I ended up having to borrow a fellow diners spoon as my wait for my own was so long, the soup stared to get cold. The Risotto of the day was flavorless and needed some good seasoning; it was simply unimpressive food with unimpressive service!\r Hopefully one day the service will improve; and I will one day go back to see if the food has returned to its former glory\r Pros: great wine list, great cheese plate, lots of good choices Cons: service terrible! more

Dont go for tapas 11/21/2007

I went to this restaurant on the way to San Antonio because of a section in ""Bon appetit "" on restaurants that served upscale meatballs. \r They were supposed to have spanish style fillet meatballs. The menu had a listings for all the variety of tapas they served. Pesonally Ive never seen french fries as Tapas before , the rest of the menu was not much better. If you are used to authentic spanish tapas I would not go here. We had the crab dip which was okay , the serrano ham croquettes which I think were frozen and possibly came from ""Wendys"", the meatballs that came in some awful sweet concoction of pear and syrup , no Idea if they were fillet I could not even taste the meat and last but not least the diver scallop which was actually tasty and cooked correctly. Finally dont order bread with you meal for one its very overpriced for five small breadsticks and two there is so much sea salt on it them it burns a hole in your mouth.\r The service was good. Pros: service Cons: menu more
