We went here because we wanted a more natural birth and they had a low c-section rate, but the office is very run-down. We started here with a doctor who left to teach and ended up stuck with the midwives- I do not recommend it at all! We saw all five of them because they work in shifts and whomever is ""on call"" when you go into labor comes to the hospital. We took birthing classes here and were assured by the midwives teaching the class that they wouldn't restrict food, water, movement, etc., and were there to but that wasn't the case for me at all- they continuously wanted to intervene and ended up restricting all of the above. The midwife who showed up was on the last day of her shift and left without telling me or my family or the nursing staff when she'd return or where she was going- she went home to take a nap we later found out. She wasn't educated about the medications she recommended and kept having to call the doctor for advise afte she received my blood test results- very scary to have this middle-man sort of midwife there calling the doctor constantly for advice! She kept saying ""I'm going to do this or that"" there was no involvement of the patient or asking of permission to perform interventions- this is completely contrary to what they said the would behave like. My entire family was just disgusted with the midwife. I went in for my follow-up appointment and saw a different midwife because I didn't trust the one who showed up to my birth and this one couldn't find my cervix to do a pap smear. She tried multiple tools different times and then eventually had to go get a real doctor. The doctor found it in under 20 seconds- not exaggerating- it's scary that these women are attending births! I should note that both of these women have since left Bethany and moved to a practice call Boojam in the Chandler area, but I still distrust that they were able to practice at Bethany for so long! Even the ultrasound technician at this place was horrible! They told us that the rooms were small where you get your ultrasounds, so I called to confirm with the receptionist that my husband and mother- two people- could attend the ultrasound where we found out our babies gender. The ultrasound technician was angry and when I told her I had called to make sure it was alright, she muttered her distaste for the receptionists! That's exactly the experience you want on such a joyful occasion! Needless to say, we went elsewhere for the rest of our ultrasounds! The only good thing about this place was their lactation consultant, Sharon, but you can pay her separately and attend her breast feeding classes and support groups without going to Bethany Women's.
