I have previously had the same Vet for over 20 yrs...even moved with her when she began working in another practice. She was that good. Unfortunately , the practice she moved to got really expensive and refused to allow an treat when one of my dogs got hurt because they did not have an appointment opening for a couple hours. Never thought I would find another Dr I trusted as much as her....then I met Dr Katie. The office hours are great which allows for lots of flexibility, their charges are more than reasonable and their compassion is amazing. Dr Katie is not an alarmists therefore listens to you, ""listens"" to her patient and doesn't jump to conclusions. They typically give you estimates which include the what ifs as well as starting at bare necessities. Dr Katie is regularly bounces case scenarios off of her colleagues to make sure every angle is looked at. Sometimes that can cause a little bit longer wait in the office but if it is to help my baby as well as my pocketbook....let me wait ...feel very blessed in discovering Bethany Animal Hospital~ a compassionate, down to earth practice. more

I was introduced to Dr. Andre and Bethany Animal Hospital through animal rescue and I have since switched to her veterinarian office completely for the care of all my animals. Dr. Andre's love, dedication, care and endless desire to help the animals goes without saying. I feel honored that she is the doctor taking care of my animals. Our household is forever using Bethany Animal Hospital . I absolutely love the staff their as well. They are all GREAT! Tank you Dr. Andre for all you for my family on a personal level and for all the animals whom would never of had a chance at a life and love had you not been there to help them. more

I have never been to any vet in my 60 plus years that has been as wonderful, talented and caring as Dr. Katie Andre and the staff at Bethany Animal Hospital. They are very thorough and price competitve but the most caring vet I have EVER gone to. They have taken care of animals and got them back into good health that most every vet I know would have recommended they be euthanized. I drive a good 25 miles each way to see Dr. Andre because I know I will get the truth, I won't have test run to jack up my bill and that my pets will get the very best healthcare possible. I trust the Dr. more than anyone to take care of my furry family members, if only I had a Dr. as caring. more

Not Impressed 6/10/2011

We have been there several times. Each time we end up waiting approximately 45 minutes before the vet comes into the room. They do not seem to be that busy so it is a little puzzling. This last visit the staff was not friendly and the receptionist was rude. We will be looking elsewhere for our pet care. more

Horrible, Horrible Experience 9/17/2010

I have never before been compelled to leave a negative review on an establishment or business, but after an awful experience my family and I had a few months back, I feel that it is necessary and will hopefully prevent other families from enduring the same ordeal. My family and I took our healthy, 2 year old female cat to this vet several months back when we noticed that she was having trouble eating (would chew a piece, drop it, generally have trouble with her mouth). We monitored her for a while and the symptoms disappeared, but just to be safe, we brought her in anyway. After finding Bethany Animal Hospital's listing online, we decided to bring her here. The bad experiences started almost as soon as we walked through the door. We signed in and sat down. There was no one else in the room aside from us and seemingly no one currently being seen in a back, yet it still took almost 20 minutes before we were called back. After talking to the nurse for a while, the doctor came in. We told her about our cat's issues with eating, and how they've improved recently, but we were being cautious. First thing she did was check her teeth and said she had a little gingivitis, but could tell us nothing else alarmingly wrong. And so, she suddenly decided that she wanted to give our cat a full body exam (liver, stomach, lungs, etc. etc.. Which confused me entirely) as well as a leukemia test. After she decided this without our consultation, we asked how much it'd cost - It was well over $200 dollars. Being naive at the time, we just asked if she'd do the testings that she wanted to do. And so she took our cat back for the testings. As we waited for the result, we sat in the waiting room.. for almost a full hour. Two other people came in during this time, were taken back, and one had even came and went within the time we were waiting. All this time later, she comes out and calls us into the waiting room, only to spring this surprise on us; Apparently our cat has leukemia. Obviously we were all horrified and tears were shed, especially once she began to go into ""detail"" about how ""urgently sick"" she was and how it was important to get her put down. As we stood there trying to ask what leukemia was exactly, the doctor was practically scheduling to have our cat put down FOR US. She didn't tell us about the super high risk of false-positives in leukemia tests, nor did she tell us the importance of doing at least three tests two months apart, nor did she tell us that leukemia positive cats can live full and happy lives despite having the disease. Nope, she just told us to put her down. Needless to say, we left. When we took her home, that's when I began doing research and found out what I found. After a few months with there being no change in her positive health, we took her to another vet and had her retested. Big Surprise!, She came back negative. MANY months later, she is still fine, whatever problem she had with her teeth never reoccurred. I'm not mad at the vet for the false-positive leukemia test. I'm mad at her because instead of telling us the truth about the ""disease"", she instantly began to urge us to kill our healthy cat. And i'm also mad at her for the fact that as soon as she realized she didn't know why my cat had a two day long tooth issue, she decided to throw expensive tests and unnecessary exams at her. It was obvious to all of us and the next vet we took her to that the vet at Bethany Home Animal Hospital was only trying to take advantage of our horror, heartbreak and agony for a few more extra bucks. The experience I had here has left me feeling traumatized and has made me have extreme anxiety when it comes to all vets. As before this, we never thought about being taken advantage of by the people we depend on to aid our babies. Our pet is still going brilliantly to this day. I sincerely hope that this vet's greed hasn't SUCCESSFULLY taken advantage of another family before. One of the most awful experiences of my life. more

big hearts 3/14/2009

There is no place in Phoenix like this hospital. These people work very hard to make sure that every animal has a chance, regardless of how much money the owners have. I was referred by the Humane Society, which gets tons of donations but doesn't provide any low cost care except for some spays and neuters. They said to call Bethany when my dog was sick and I didn't have much money. The staff spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I could afford and what was the best way to spend the money I did have and my dog ended up getting better. Not like my previous vet who just said ""oh well"" when I said I couldn't afford 600 dollars in tests and didn't even try to help suggest other ideas. I don't know what mama kitty (other review)is talking about, because the current doctor has owned the hospital for 10 years and maybe the kennels in the back are not brand new but they are totally clean. I asked if I could see where they keep the animals and they gave me a tour of the whole place including the boarding and grooming parts and surgery. If mamakitty thinks her animals need a tv in their cage she should go elsewhere, but if she wants great care from people who really want to help, she could not do any better than Bethany Animal Hospital. Yes i had to wait because they were running late but people do the math it is much harder and more work to fix 6 animals for 100.00 than 1 animal for 600.00. Pros: excellent care, reasonable fees Cons: busy, often running late more

Excellent Vet, staff and service 7/21/2008

I called about 5 places and this place was the most compatiable with my work schedule. I got my 4 1/2 month old Shiht-zu spayed. When I called the staff was very nice and informative. When I dropped her off the were all very friendly and able to answer any question. They advised me of all the pain medicines available and asked if i wanted other things done since they would be so much easier while Patches was under. I picked her up and everything was fine and she was still a little tired but by the next day she was the same old Patches. Thank you very much to all the staff and the Vet. more

This placed changed hands many times over the years and has slowly slid down the rating scale. Ever take a look in the back where the animals are kept? This once excellent clinic with reasonable rates now testy on the do you know any better and slowly shaking the money pocket to see how much is there is still operating with a full schedule. more

What a great Vet's Office! 1/26/2007

When my dog Maddie had a chest wound, Bethany Animal Hospital took such good care of her. While the services seemed expensive (I'm a full-time college student), it was worth every penny. When I saw the cost to treat my dog (including surgery), I cried because I didn't have the money. The vet and her techs worked with me and were very comforting as it was a stressful situation. Thankfully, we were able to pay without issue. more
