Mr. Hamma from Ben Franklin provided me excellent work, very professional, customer focused-polite-great hand shake-an all around top person. He is a real credit to your company, his profession, and above all to his fellow man. tThe kind of man any company would want to have as an employee. Please hire more like him in all divisions of your company. Thank you. more

I just wanted to send a note to tell you how AWESOME this company is. First, you guys totally saved the day when I needed a service call. The tech that came out to my house was great, efficient and explained everything to me very well. He explained the Club Membership program to me and I decided to enroll. I literally just got off the phone at 11:05pm to schedule my annual system flush/maintenance. How cool is it that I can truly call and speak with a live person this time of night?! Way Cool. Then, I just talked to the friendliest guy ever. His name is Tavares (my apologies if I spelled it wrong). He was so nice and helpful that I couldn't help but to smile the entire time. To receive that level of service this time of night is truly amazing. I am very thankful that I called you guys in my time of need and I will happily tell anyone that asks to call Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Kudos for a job well done. more

The company is solid. We had them come out give us a quote, and they started the work immediately. Their plumber Kim Knopp is the best we have ever dealt with. We experienced brown water coming through the pipes, he was their prior to the appointment & very professional. They also had the owner T Rae, come out to check the job afterwards. The city also came by to review the work, job well done. Fair pricing, & very professional. more

I would not deal with these people. I have seen them in the Steele Creek area where I have lived since 1982. All the houses here in 12 Oaks were plumbed with black pipe running from the house to the meter. I have seen dozens burst and require replacing. It is very simple to trench beside the old line and drop in another beside it. My neighbor did his in 4 hours with a tiller and shovel. This is the second time I have seen Ben Franklin on my street recently and each time it takes days for them. Today will be the fourth at my neighbors and the guys sit in two vans outside the house all day without shoveling the dirt back in the ditch just milking the clock. They did not even have a backhoe and rented one from United Rentals that was delivered and picked up yet they still sit there. I wonder if it is a low income government supported deal. more

Would not give an estimate of work on the phone, the employee said they ""had to look"" but since we bought the kitchen sink fixture and just needed it installed, and she said ""I don't think it'll cost that much"" we had them come to the house. Come to find out the plumber said ""It's a FIXED cost for this particular item, it costs $280 for 1 hour of work and they want you to join 'some club' to get a reduction. DO NOT LET THEM SET A FOOT ON YOUR PROPERTY without getting an estimate of the work value first, they charge a $60 service fee that they pretend to ""wave"" when they gauge you for your repairs! The technician smelled my garbage disposal and recommended based on 'smell' that it be 'replaced'... oh by the way it worked FINE, did i mention I couldn't use it CAUSE THE KITCHEN SINK WATERS OFF duh! And the technician went into my garage without my permission and put an 'emergency sticker' with their number on my hot water heater! Um... I'm home, did you ask permission to go in my garage??? NO. STAY THE HECK AWAY from this plumber. That being said... they're ontime, polite and no plumbers cracks. I have used this plumber for several repairs, they do good work, and they cost too much. more

Terrible. Estimates going from $2800 (before a club discount) to $4100 once our insurance company was involved a year later. (which was doctored because they didn't apply the club discount to the original estimate). They had kleenpro come out to clean up, who is pushy about having their flooring man do the repairs. Shady, you can tell an obvious lie. They contradicted themselves over and over again. Do NOT use Benjamin Franklin for your plumbing needs. I wish I had looked at their rating before using them. more

""I just moved to our ancestral home in Charlotte and lots of facilities\r are not working so i need to do a lot of renovations I need to redo\r the kitchen pantry/laundry area/hot water heater. Yes, all of that in\r a space that most people have for just their pantry in modern homes.\r The biggest space sucker was the hot water heater and since it’s a 10+\r years old it was probably going to need to be replaced before too\r long. We consulted a lot of Plumbing companies in the area but they\r could not do as the specifications that I wanted good thing I check\r online and found Benjamin Franklin Plumbing I check their site and\r they have water heaters item so it’s convenient to hired them and buy\r the heater from them as well.\r \r I phoned them and book schedule for estimates and Wow...the supervisor came to the house to do the estimate. He was a professional looking dude who really seemed to know what he was talking about. He knew how many BTU's we needed to tell the gas company we needed. He had knowledgeable opinions about what size we needed and placement of the new machine. Price is good so i hired them immediately.Installation process took one day and went very smoothly. The plumbers were very professional, super clean and giving me kind suggestions for completing other half-assed home improvement projects we had started. I am very satisfied with the product and service rendered. \r I highly recommend them to all my friends who need similar service."" more

BUYERS BEWARE. I called Benjamin 6/4/2012

BUYERS BEWARE. I called Benjamin Franklin to replace my Water Heater and Sump Pump. What a fool I was. Their quote was for $2,711. I told them I had to get a second opinion and they charged me $49 for the service call. I got the work done with another plumnber with comparable equipment for $1,300. After such a disparity between the Ben Franklin Quote and my actual installation, I asked for my $49 back. I didn't really expect them to give me my $49 back and of course they did not. I spoke cordially with the General Manager who made it clear he would not refund me. It was obvious he could care less about customer service and would rather have his plumbers charge an arm and leg to some sucker than keep an honest customer happy. They are all about MONEY and nothing else. Stay away from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. BUYERS BEWARE more

Do not use Benjamin Franklin 5/23/2012

I called Benjamin Franklin for a plumbing issue. and they gave me a quote of 5000 to 8000 dollars. Needless to say i got a second opinion. I came across a plumber by the name of John S Major at 704-563-7020. They gave me a quote of 3000 and I went with them. After digging up my line John Major came to my door and said that his quote of 3000 was to high for my issue and quote "" in good conscience he could not charge me 3000 dollars and the service would be 1775."" \r \r This is a father and son owned complany and they are extremely fair and completely honest with you. They work fast and take their work serously. \r \r I recommend them highly. If America was filled more with honest people like this father and son business we would be a whole lot better off. They are friendly, no nonsense and work fast while doing your job right. They do what they say and give you honest information. \r \r I will not use anyone else ever. Benjamin Franklin are do not tell the truth and are out to get as much money as possible from you. more

Worst Service and deceitful sales practices 7/19/2011

Do not use this company unless you want terrible service and decitful sales tactics!!! They took my sister for $1000 for a $300 water heater when they were called to only unclog a toilet????? My sister is disabled and their salesperson must have dialed in on that and took her for one hell of a ride. DO NOT USE!!! DISHONEST!!!!!!!!! more

Worst plumbers and deceitful sales tactics!!! 7/19/2011

Do not use this company!!!! They took adavantage of disabled sister!!! She called them to unclog a toilet and suddenly her hot water heater is out.?? There wasn't any problem with the hot water at all!!!!! They used high pressure sales tactics and got her to buy a water heater (20 gallon low boy) that costs 300 at a big box but charged her $1000. Plus, when the repairman went to get it, he brought back the wrong one. This took ALL day!!! I called their ops manager Steve Miller to complain but got no call back. I am not surprised. If I was ripping off people all over town, I wouldn't return my calls! How do these sleep at night!!!??? more

Benjamin Franklin wost service and deceitful sales practices 7/19/2011

This company was called to unclog a toilet at my sister's condo but told her she needed a new water heater. How does needing a toilet unclogged become a new water heater?? Through high pressure and deceit! They took advantage of my sister who is disabled. The water heater for her unit was a ""low-boy"" 20 gallon. At MOST costs $300 from Lowe's or HD. At BF it was $1000.00!!!!!!!! To make matters worse, the guy takes two hours to get and brings in the WRONG one. Two hours later, he finally returns to install this golden $1000.00 water heater. My sister had NO WATER HEATER PROBLEM!! THE HOT WATER WORKED FINE!!!! BEWRE OF THIS COMPANY!!!! How do these people sleep at night is beyond me! more

Best Experience with a Service Company 2/23/2011

I usually don't take the time to applaud service companies because I think they are simply doing their job. I am paying them to perform a service and I have high expectations so I believe a good job should be standard... otherwise I simply won't use them again. BUT THIS TIME.... I am taking time out of my busy day to tell people how great of a job this company did. I am beyond pleased with the customer service and knowledge of this company. They have been at my home for 4 days in a row and every detail has been perfect. The plumbers have gone out of there way to inform me and make sure I am happy with everything going on. From start to finish they were professional, clean and most importantly I felt that I could trust them. BRAVO BEN FRANKLIN PLUMBING! You just got yourself a lifetime customer. more

Don't Call Ben Franklin Unless You Have Lots of Time 1/27/2011

I not only didn't engage these people, but had to hang up after an extensive period of time on the phone with their obnoxious, pushy, uninformative, demanding person who answers the phone. She would give me no information of any kind whatsoever in answer to simple questions like ""is there a service fee"", ""are your plumbers employees or contractors,"" ""do you do such and such type of work"", etc. When I would ask a question, she would respond with detailed questions about me, like every conceivable aspect of my contact data, including address and payment method and much more. In response to other questions of mine, she would rattle on and on about how great the company was, but not giving me any worthwhile information. I told her she didn't need to know my address in order to tell me if there was a service fee, and she asked even more questions. Then she would press me to make an appointment, without answering anything. When I finally told her, actually giving 3 warnings, that I was going to hang up if she didn't answer my questions, that I was not going to give her more information about me or make an appointment until she did, she would just ask more questions and try again to make the appointment. I finally told her, ""this is it; I'm hanging up if you don't tell me if there's a service fee right now, and she started talking again about the ""openings"" on the repairman's schedule. So I hung up. It was so bizarre, so far beyond the norm, that it seemed absolutely crazy. I can only image what service and pricing from a company that behaves this way to a simple telephone inquiry about an appointment would be like. It appears that they think they can totally control the conversation and the action and browbeat callers into open-ended commitments without making any commitments themselves or revealing anything about themselves. After decades in real estate and property management, I have never experienced anything like it. more

Great Service 1/25/2011

I had Kevin from Ben Franklin Plumbing out to my home. He was very helpful. He took the time to listen and provide answers. I was very impressed with his ability to perform the work quickly and how neat and professional he looked. He went over all my options and allowed time for me and my wife to make a decision. He also went over all the pricing and was extremely courteous. He did a fabulous job and his attitude will keep us calling Ben Franklin for all of our plumbing needs. more

Very Pleased 1/24/2011

This was my first experience with Ben Franklin Plumbing and we were very happy with their work. We signed up for a Ben Society agreement and saved 15% on all the repairs. The plumber wore his shoe booties and cleaned up everything when he was done working. He even came out twice in the evenings. Most companies would have rescheduled for the next day but I was very impressed when he showed up to my home after 8pm. We will definitely use them again in the future. more

Excellent Employees 1/24/2011

I have used this company for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. I have even spoken with the owner on the phone several times. My preferred plumber is Cyrus but I have had several others out to my home as well and they were all very informative and professional. Everyone at the company has a very friendly attitude. All of my plumbing issues have been resolved very quickly and efficiently. Highly recommend them. more

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing 1/19/2011

This plumber did work for me late last year in my yard and in my garage, and only in those places. A few weeks later I was told they wanted to come over to review the work they performed. So, I had to move things around to meet with them. When they arrived the first thing I was asked was if I was happy with their service. I right off told him that I was unhappy with the condition they left my yard in and that I now had a lot of work to do to fix what they left. The serviceman didn't even seem to care. He came into my garage and without missing a heartbeat was heading inside my house. I told him that all their work inside the house was in the garage and he told me he was here to do an inspection of my homes plumbing. An unwanted and unrequested inspection. What a rouse!!! He wasn't there to review the work they had done. this was a business development visit that cost me time. I consider this way worse those nagging cold calls we all used to get right at dinnertime. If you do use their service, be prepared to pay top dollar, just refuse their business development visit later. more
