In April 2011, I took my Japanese wife to Benihana in Pittsburgh. The chef who was not actually Japanese, cooking on our table. Also, his son and his son's wife were sitting next to us. Our meal got shocking turn when he commented was while he was cooking my wife's meat, he fist said ""this meat is from Japan"" and we were thinking it must be good quality meat but he said next was "" no, it's not from Japan. Japanese meat has radiation."" After we heard what he said we were shocked and my wife was crying so bad after we left from the restaurant. The chef does not have respect and should not joke such sensitive topic to my Japanese wife, especially at Japanese restaurant!! Besides, he was mostly having conversation with his son and his son's wife, and he gave them obviously different portion size of food including a lot of complementary food such as fillet Mignon and scallops that they didn't order. Also we were confused when he said that after we asked as Medium for meat, he showed uncooked meat and said ""this is medium enough?"" If he said once, we kept his saying as joking and might be laughing about it but he kept repeating & repeating even to my wife. It was very annoying. Over all we were very disappointed his unrespectable, unpleasant, immoral speech and we are very sad about Tsunami victims in Japan. Besides the food was very salty. We will never come back again to the Benihana.
