Dr. Beigi gave me a lengthy scare tactic speech about my amalgam (contains mercury) fillings and how they were leaking and crumbling and poisoning me, and told me I had to get them removed immediately and replaced with expensive ceramic fillings that--surprise--my insurance doesn't cover. He never presented this as an option among other options, but as something I MUST do. I fell for it as he had me really scared and approved the charges ($400) to have impressions made. When I got home I went online and researched these claims and found that this was all a big scam, that the amalgam fillings are the current recommended practice by the American Dental Association, the World Health Organization, etc. These claims about amalgam fillings giving people mercury poisoning have NO scientific backing. I called the dentist's office within an hour of leaving and asked them to stop the charges and cancel the impressions, and told them why. To sum up, after speaking with them on the phone and going in and talking to Dr. Beigi in person, he refused to refund my money. He claimed that within the hour after I had left, the impressions went straight to the lab and they made the molds for the fillings. I asked to speak to the lab or for the name of the lab and he refused. This man is a swindler, beware!
