What a joke. I called and explained I was just beginning my search and was wondering if I could speak to someone as to whether my background matched their specialties. Apparently that's not their process...
I was told that I had to submit my resume through their website, and it would take 3-5 days for one of their recruiters to call me. If I didn't hear back in a week, I was to resubmit my resume through the website.
I politely asked ""is there a chance I won't hear back at all?"" to which the answer was ""yes, so you need to resubmit your resume until you do"". I paused for a moment to let this sink in, and realized that this is the stupidest, least client focused, and one of the more arrogant approaches I've ever heard. So I politely asked ""why would I do that?"", to which she replied boredly, ""so someone might reply back"", to which I politely replied ""no thank you, good luck"" and hung up the phone.
Fortunately I'm an experienced executive with networks and an MBA, so I have other options. But if I was a newly minted grad, or new to the area, this would be soul crushing.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! Don't let people like this waste your time. If this is how poorly they treat possible candidates at intake, I can only imagine the frustration and disappointment that awaits any one who is ""lucky"" enough to receive a reply.
