Editorial review from Citysearch 8/12/2013

Sirirat Banuchi was my doctor for 25 years. In 1999 she tested me for an allergy to local anesthesia and confirmed I was severely allergic to anything ending in ‘caine’. She told me this was “A one in a million allergy” and no dentist would believe it. She gave me a card for my wallet to explain the allergy and told me to get a med alert tag.\r In 2009, I went to see her with a rash on my neck. The administrative staff had cleaned out the office files and my allergy info was not transferred to my new file. Banuchi gave me a shot of Kenalog and added a local anesthesia so the shot “wouldn’t hurt my arm”. I broke out in a full body rash with severe skin lesions. I went back to see her and she told me I needed to find out what I was allergic to. When I could not afford testing by the doctor she recommended, she told me to “Go to Stroger”. That is what I did and I was diagnosed with multiple food allergies. After Banuchi’s shot I was suddenly allergic to cow’s milk, wheat, soybean, eggs, shellfish, nuts, green beans, bananas, kiwi. Kiwi? I had never had a food allergy in my life. These ‘allergens’ are also in many personal products, shampoos, conditioners and lotions. It took eight months and multiple visits to Stroger Hospital to diagnose the allergies. \r I lost years of work and still can’t eat at most restaurants or other peoples homes. I have to read ingredients on EVERYTHING I eat or use on my body. If I accidentally eat the wrong thing my eyes swell shut then peel along with fever and severe fatigue. It takes two weeks to recover from less than half of an almond. \r I talked to several lawyers but was not able to find recourse. Apparently there is no way to prove where allergies come from. Seeing Sirirat Banuchi changed my life. more

Wonderful Doctor-Highly recomended 7/16/2009

I called Dr. Banuchis' office on Tuesday and got an appointment the next day. I showed up at the office at noon and was seen by the doctor by 12 15(after filling out standard new patient forms..about 5 mins.) Dr. Banuchi was friendly. Informative and very kind. She diagnosed my skin condition and recommended a treatment (surgery) and completesd the procedure onsite in about 20mins. I would recommmend Dr. Banuchi and her great receptiionist to anyone. I ould go back again. more

Try to avoid this Doctor if possible. 3/5/2007

The parking lot is small and in a busy commercial location; you may end up parked on the street at a meter. Dr. is hyper, rude and hard to talk with/understand. For acne, she makes you look at yourself in a mirror to show you how oily you are, and then tries to prescribe Accutane. I have mild acne, and Accutane is not the correct treatment for mild acne. I moved to Chicago and had a great treatment plan prior, she argued with me due to my HMO status, saying they would be upset with her if she prescribed the good meds that I was currently taking. It took 30 min. to convince her otherwise. On my way out the receptionist tried to convince me to yet again to accept Accutane, even though my acne is mild and Accutane is very harsh and should not be used for that, only nodular acne. To my horror the receptionist actually took someone's file off the shelf to prove to me other people take Accutane and I shouldn't be concerned! I was uncomfortable seeing someone else?s file, and I'm hoping they had permission from that client to do that. It was an awful experience; try to avoid her if at all possible! If you do have to see her, please research different acne medications before you go and be informed of what they do before you take them, then be prepared to challenge her, as she will not want to listen to your personal concerns about your treatment. I will not be going back. Pros: I honestly can't think of any. Cons: Too many to list. more
