TOKYO! Playing This Weekend! 4/24/2009

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let everybody here know that Friday, April 24th, the Ballantyne Village Theatre will be screening TOKYO!, three short films in one movie by three different directors, including acclaimed director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). I saw an advanced screening of it and was totally blown away by it. It's been getting great reviews, so I recommend checking it out this weekend! more

What going to the movies is all about 4/25/2008

I love that there are only 5 or so movies showing here at all times and they rotate weekly. There are no crowds standing in line when you arrive-very easy access parking in the nearby deck. I adore this theater and hope that it gets a bit more notice from its neighbors! Come on folks, the seats are amazing-ly comfortable, the decor is wild and maybe a bit spacey but it all works here. I have not been to a big theater since this one opened. I have seen the best indie and Sundance award winning movies-which do show up soon afterwards at the video rental store, but if you still like seeing a great flic on a big screen, this is the place to go. Wine and beer are available and you don't see little kids or teens hanging out because this is really geared towards the adults of Ballantyne. I have gone ONCE when it was completely filled and sat with alone with my husband one night for a film. It is usually not crowded. You can eat nearby and in great food establishments at B Village and window shop at some fine stores that line the inner circle of the village. When the weather warms up, what a great spot to hang out after the movies, catch some music and a "tini" in one of the many bars that are also geared for the adults (even us 50+yrs rockers). Support this venue-go see a great movie there, you will love it. KC Pros: Parking, dining, entertaining all in strolling distance Cons: Movies come and go quickly more

Great location and theatre! 5/23/2007

I have been to this theatre quite a few times since it's opened. They have special movie sessions (for example old movies, or horror flicks, where they will have a new themed movie per week for 5 bucks a show), which are great! Their consessions are MUCH cheaper than competitors, not to mention tastier! I can get a small drink and popcorn for 6 dollars and it's more than enough. You can also order beer or wine for the movie, which is a big seller for many people. The location is convenient, and the chairs are EXTRA comfortable. You can pay a few extra dollars to sit in the red leather chairs which are even more comfy, but the regular seats are just fine! Pros: Indie films other theatres don't have, comfy seating, affordable consessions Cons: Don't have as many theatres, therefore not as many movies at once. more
