A very nice little place to hang out 4/30/2012

The cake was smooth and soft and the cream was light. .. I enjoyed every single bite of it! A very nice little place to hang out at, without paying the inflated prices of cafes in Manhattan. more

Not what I thought it would be 3/28/2010

The reviews for BAKED are normally good and their chocolate chip cookie gets great reviews. The cookie is great but their cupcakes are not awesome. The hot chocolate is done very well and I really enjoyed it. I don't feel the need to return to BAKED though. Pros: Nice place to visit if in Red Hook, good hot cocoa Cons: Nothing special more

Best Chocolate Chunk Cookie I've Ever Had 3/2/2009

I'm so sick of these crappy bakeries with beautiful but gummy cookies. I don't want poor excuses for pastries made with fake, vegan margarine that tastes like bird feed. Gimme butter. Gimme chocolate. Gimme Baked. They seriously have the BEST chocolate chunk cookie I've ever had. They do not mess around. It's a problem for me and my waistline. Pros: Great baked stuff, real ingredients Cons: All the way in Red Hook more

Try the sweet and salty cupcakes 2/6/2009

Very charming, hip atmosphere, fun merchandise to take home, and (most importantly) almost everything I've eaten there has been perfection. The icing is not overly sweet, the flavor combinations are creative, and the presentation is beautiful. The cakes are a little expensive. I got the red velvet cake for a birthday party and was a little disappointed; although it was still very good, for the price I was hoping to be blown away. Still, if you are in Red Hook, you should definitely stop by. Pros: Atmosphere, cookies, cupcakes Cons: Long lines -- but that shows you how good it is. more

Costly ""Cake Box"" Cakes 11/12/2008

Was impressed with the unusual taste combos, thought I thought the place was more about hype than quality. It's definitely a cool place to be and eat, though I could ""take or leave"" the cakes. Most have a real cake-box taste to them. For the price, I expected something more. I really like the Red Velvet from Bone Lick Park (in the city) instead. Pros: Cool place to be seen, Hip Bakery Cons: High Cake Cost, Cake-mix Taste more

tasty cakes 9/29/2008

We ALWAYS get our cakes here!\r The cakes here are beautiful!\r It is always moist on the inside and not overly sweet!\r The frosting is handmade and delicious!!\r more

Worst Bakery Ever in NYC. 4/15/2008

I had the pastries and was very dry and tasted old. Coffee tast like wood and very expensive.I wouldn't eat there ever again. Pros: Close to work Cons: Food is terrable more

Just average 3/11/2008

I read several reviews that were praising the cupcakes and since I was on the search for the best cupcakes in NY, I just had to try this place. I made my friend drive there from Sheepshead Bay only to find that their cupcakes were just alright. That's really all I have to say about it. It was not that worth it for the travel. more

What's The Big Deal? 11/8/2007

Dropped in during a recent week in New York. The plum muffin was okay, albeit quite dry. The service, however, was surly and arrogant. Some of the refrigerated items seemed old. Have they slipped? Or am I missing something? more

Nice Place in Red Hook 10/29/2007

After reading all the reviews from a while ago, finally we made a slight detour on our way back home to give it a try. There were not too many choices in terms of cakes and tarts but I assume it was because we got there an hour before their closing time. We asked for recommendation and decided to try the ""Red Hook Red Hot"" and ""Sweet & Salty Tart"". Oh mine! The Red Hook Red Hot was amazing. The cake was smooth and soft and the cream was light and with a hint of cinnamon. I am not a cream person and normally I scrape all off from cakes before eating... NOT THIS ONE. I enjoyed every single bite of it! The Sweet & Salty Tart was way too sweet for me since I am not a fan of caramel, however, my boyfriend LOVES it! This is a very nice little place to hang out at, without paying an arm and a leg like the cafes in Manhattan. We would definitely go back for more. Pros: Good food, plenty of on street parking Cons: A bit of a trip if you don't drive more

Just Fabulously Delicious 2/24/2007

I am a lover of good food, good desserts. while visiting NY. I had the opportunity to find and stop in ""Baked"" It was just too good to be true. Just Fabulous. and im a cook from way back. What a cheerful atmosphere, and the desserts are aawwwww, to die for. Coffee tops it all off. I hope these new owners stick with this forever. I truly hope they go and grow, grow, grow. I am pulling for you. Wish there was something I could do to make all successful. Perhaps as the weather improves , they are going to reap the benefit of there very hard work and love of there wonderful idea of desserts and coffee shop. Go for it Guys and Gals. The sun always shines just after the Rain. Sincerely, Eileen of Lakewood Ohio Pros: ITs a cheerful, pleasant place Cons: I would plan in the future to do a mail order business as many travelers such as myself would like to keep the memories alive by buying sweets on line. more

Expected more but would still return 2/8/2007

I had been wanting to try out Baked for awhile but was unable to get there, so I decided to order some things from their website. I was especially interested in the Sweet and Salty Brownie (brownie with caramel and salt) because I love the way salt enhances the flavor of chocolate and especially because it said they use Fleur de Sel. The website was easy to use and the shipping was great (with tracking info). I was looking forward to the brownie all day, but when I tried it I was really disappointed. First and foremost, there was no saltiness...at all. Second, and less important, there was no noticable caramel. That I can somewhat understand because I know that often caramel can just kind of absorb into the brownie batter. I was just very diappointed by the low level of salt. That being said, it was a good brownie; it's just that it tasted like a plain ole fudge brownie. I also got the Chocolate Chip Cookies which are decently good. I'm a bit of an expert on choc. chip cookies (I get one from every bakery I go to), and they are definitely above average. They have a good flavor, good structure and an ok texture. While they aren't particularly unique in any way, they are a fine example of the classic chocolate chip cookie. Pros: Items look very nice and professional Cons: ""salty"" is not more

Truly Amazing... 12/12/2006

Let me just say I have never liked scones...but yet, somehow, Baked is able to make something I dont like into an amazing treat. This place is excellent. Pros: Food, Ambience, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Scones more

inventive treats and tasty classics! 11/30/2006

The best cinnamon roll i've had outside a home kitchen, the standards (muffins, scone) are amazing and i would venture to guess that the cakes, inventive cookies, breads and bars are too! The brownie is the second best i've had (the first being from Sage American Kitchen). If you are in red hook and don't know what to do, go visit this place and have a decent cappacino with a satisfying treat. i've definately been around to A LOT of new york bakeries and this one by far has impressed me the most. Pros: great coffee, easy in and out, always something new to look at in the bakery cases Cons: red hook is where? how do i get there? more

Sweet, Sweet, Sweet 11/5/2006

The baked goods are great. So's the coffee. The help is kind and responsive.\r And most miraculously, there's nothing pretentious about the place. \r Hail the Hook! Pros: Great food, great service Cons: Well, it's a bit of a walk . . . more

You can miss this one 11/2/2006

You can miss this one and not miss a whole lot. This place is average. The spice cupcake was tasty but the frosting was poisonous. more

Super duper delish 8/18/2006

Thank goodness I don't live in red hook, because I would be here every day eating their delicious goodies. I think that they have some of the most delicious baked goods in the whole city. Well done! Pros: the food, creativity of product, owner is very nice Cons: location isn't the most convenient more

Amazing 6/12/2006

This was by far one of the best dates I've ever been on and I think everything played a part. The hostess was nice, my waitress was fabulous and the desserts were to die for. Great restaurant. \r \r more

The Bomb 4/10/2006

Tasted their ""cake of the month"" and it was among the best cakes I have tried. Very, very good. It was a chocolate cake with caramel frosting and bits of sea salt (I think). Nice combo. People were very friendly. If you are ever near Red Hook, go at once. Pros: Great Cake, Nice Staff, Free Wifi more
