Worst drink in the world 2/10/2010

We used to go to their old location often. It was a charming, quiet little place and the food and service were always great. The new location is lovely, but all hard surfaces and the open kitchen make it very loud. However, the kicker was when my friend ordered a mojito. They didn't have any mint, so they put lemon basil in the drink! Needless to say, it was awful, like liquid pesto. We sent it back and we saw someone leave and come back a few minutes later with a bag from the HEB across the street. Apparently they sent someone out to buy mint. They remade the drink but it was still terrible--really sour and undrinkable. They should have just told us they didn't know how to make a mojito so we could have ordered something else. The waiter kept talking to us constantly about his personal life. I like a friendly waiter, but this one just kept interrupting our conversation and going on about himself--can you say boundaries? The food was just okay, not nearly as good as it used to be. I don't know why a move of a few blocks should have made such a difference, but it did. I recently heard they closed because of ""lease negotiations"". Yeah, right. Maybe it's because their reputation is shot and the customers are staying away in droves. Pros: Decor Cons: Service, bar, noise more

Please read and save some bucks 6/15/2009

I read all the review here and can't believe the ravings about this place. Evidently, people don't know good Italiano from bad. We used to go to this mom and pop place back in MO and everything was WoW. I have been to big fancy rests. too and this place is a real joke. Maybe it is their family and friends who rave about this place...I don't know. BTW, our waiter was nicer to us than the cook and the manager. He told us after the bill came that it was his first day and he just didn't know what I wanted. This is what I ordered since not on the menu...Some type of seafood alfredo dish minus the calamari with mushrooms. Now how do ya misunderstand that? We went out for Italiano cause I can make it at home but not that great to my liking. I told my hubby at the Rest. that mine is better than theirs. That is saying a lot about mine and little about thiers. Pros: There are no pros Cons: Read revue more

do not eat here 4/11/2009

""The food is too expensive. The service is horrible....apparently is their policy to insult their patrons by arguing with them and then make them pay for inedible food. The owner thought that we should not be comped for an appetizer that was inedible because she thought that we had eaten the whole thing. Her manager even told us that she had refused to comp other couples who thought their entrees were inedible. The staff does not care for the customer and neither does the owner. DO not go there unless you want to be insulted and then made to pay for that sort of treatment. We were even told that we had been explained at the time of ordering that the dish contained goat cheese and that apparently we did not know what we ordered because goat cheese is supposed to be salty and that we ate more than half of the dish according to them and that we just needed to pay..no explanations because ""that is their policy""."" Pros: nice ambiance Cons: rude staff/no customer service more

I will never step foot in Babbo Bruno Again 3/31/2009

I have heard that this place look good but the food was not so good. But I don't like to take other people opinions. This time I should have. I set up a meet and greet party a week ahead of time. Spoke to the hostess, bartender and I think the manager. They told me about their happy hour specials including 7.00 app. I was offered to use a area of the resturant that is sectioned off so that it would be easier to talk. I asked if there would be an extra fee for the room and I was told no. When we got there the owner would not honor the happy hour prices or the room. If we sit in the room no happy hour prices only at the bar. But the bar was not big enough for 20 people. He yelled at me saying ""I can not give it away for free"" Now of course I had not ask for anything for free, He also yelled"" take it or leave it!"" We left it and I will take my business else where too!!! Cons: Rude owner more

Excellent meal......this time 3/13/2009

UPDATE THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS! THAT'S WHAT THEY GET FOR BEING RUDE AND NOT ABLE TO TAKE CRITICISM FOR THINKING THEY ARE PERFECT! HAHA................. I have been to Babbo Bruno twice. The visit in Feb 2008 was not very good. The waiter was lazy and the food was not worth the price very bland. We went again last night 03/2009 and it was a totally different experience. Our waiter was nice, helpful and a little funny. Anyway, I had been dying to try CIAPPINO and the Chef made a special batch for me and it was awesome (I had to control the urge to drink the last of the broth straight from the bowl). My husbands pasta with steak and shrimp was good too. We will return. Pros: CIAPPINO was awesome........ Cons: Pricey....$28 bowl of soup more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL 12/23/2008

I could not discourage people more from attending this restaurant. I agree whole heartedly with the review from 10/2008. The wait staff is terrible and the owners are rude and disrespectful and deserve a boycott of this ridiculous place called a restaurant. Most importantly anyone who dine here has their health at risk in my opinion, as I was served uncooked RAW chicken after waiting for 1 1/2 hours for my meal. RUN, do not walk, RUN away from this place. Cons: TOO MANY TO LIST more

RUDE OWNER AND BAD FOOD 10/16/2008

10/2008-Ordered penne with vodka sauce- this time it was horrible!!! and I could not eat it and the belligerent owner rudely informed me that he WAS NOT GOING TO TAKE IT OFF THE BILL !!! We will not be back again - why be forced to pay for crappy food and be treated with disrespect ??? I 've received better service at McDonald's- this place probably won't be around much longer if this is the way he treats his patrons- whatever happened to customer service?? Pros: Nicely decorated Cons: Owner is rude and impatient ; not willing or interested in pleasing the customer more

Poor food, which is unfortunate because the atmosphere is great 10/16/2008

I walked in and was really excited because it has great decor and is very clean. Bread and salads were good, but my dinner was horrible and my husband's was just okay.... not what it should have been for the price. In my dinner, the pasta and vegetables were very overcooked which is unacceptable for any italian place. Maybe the standards have gone down since some of the older reviews, but I was very disappointed. Pros: atmosphere Cons: food more

Best Service and Food a must see 1/16/2008

I dont usually write reviews since I hate eating out but this is worth the time. Pros: The food was awesome Cons: parking was kinda bad more

Great Service and Food 8/9/2006

What a wonderful experience to get away from the typical ""Italian-American"" cuisine. This restaurant does an excellent job in bringing the tastes of Italy to Friendswood. The atmosphere is wonderful, and our server, Kristen was very helpful with suggestions on the food and wine. I will definitely be frequenting this place. more

Awesome Chef!! and Great Service! 6/8/2006

My girlfriend and I visited Babbo Bruno's last Thursday evening. The meal could not have been better! To top that the service was professional and prompt. Overall I was extremly impressed Babbo Bruno has a new regular customer. Pros: Chef, Service, Ambience more

POOR MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/15/2006

Ordered crab and it was bad.The manager asked what the problem was, we said we would like to order something else. Well he let the owner/chef know, and she refused to take the dish back. Tthe manager came back out and said th owner was too busy, handed me the check for the full amount and walked away. The owner finally came out . She then started to yell at us, saying the crab was perfect and if I didnt pay the whole amount she would call the cops.I was furious by her behavior and customer service skills, she kept going on about how she was tired and having a long night and didnt have time for this crap. She eventually gave in and had the manager comp us the dish. She told us to pay the damn bill and never come back. WE wont be back, not after that Pros: the waiter Cons: floor manager, owner/chef, poor food more

Best little Northern Italian food around!! 10/24/2005

The food was great, I felt like I was in Italy. When you eat here, expect to be here a while. Relax and enjoy the food, wine and surroundings. Our wait person Kristin, she is the greatest. It is in a strip mall, but please don't let that stop you from just going in to try!! Pros: Relaxed atmophere, Eat outside, or in, Easy to find Cons: NONE!! more
