The BYU Bookstore Serviced my stolen laptop that had the serial number scratched off of it. I spoke with Dennis Lindberg, the Assistant Manager. I told him the name of the Det. who is working on the case and all I wanted was some peace of mind, the name(s) of the people who turned it in/picked it up and the contact info so I could give it to the Det. that I had just paged. I wanted the Det. to handle it so I could get all of my things back that were stolen from My children and myself Christmas Eve. Dennis told me if I sent him the receipt proving I owned the MacBookPro and forwarded him the email Apple sent me telling me my laptop had been serviced at his store, Dennis would give me more information, namely last name(s) and contact info (beside the first name which I already had received from a clerk the night before) who had my laptop. Dennis called me to confirm he received the information and then proceeded to tell me that he would give the info to the campus police and the det. I was working with and it was a police matter now so I would have to wait until Monday to get more info. He repeatedly refused to give me his supervisors name and when I told him I could get it anyway and I would tell him/her that he had refused to give it to me, he finally gave it to me. Earlier in the conversation, Dennis told me that if the serial numbers are scratched off, the item is usually stolen. I asked Dennis why would the BYU Bookstore service a computer that had the serial number scratched off? Dennis had no answer. I was did was I said I would do. Dennis would not. I am amazed that Dennis was so deceitful to me. He told he a last name, then told me it wasn't really it. Then Dennis told me another last name. Idk what to believe. BYU has a reputation for being honest in all their dealings... that is also a question required for a temple recommend. I wonder if he has one? more
